We, the class of 1964, dedicate this annual to Mr. Gordon Melby, who has distinguished himself in the science department through forty years of service to the students of the Al- exandria High School. Mr, Melby has served as advisor for the Audio Visual Department and has further contributed with several years as baseball coach. In deepest appreciation for his service this dedication expresses but a small token'of our great esteem . 6 ,, 7, xi .2 , A WW. The function of teachers and person- nel at jefferson is not merely to fill the student with bits of knowledge, but to aid in interpreting that knowledge, and to give encouragement, guidance and understanding to those students. jefferson has many faculty members who not only accept the responsibilities of their position, but who also act as advisors for school organiza- tions. Students at jefferson High School will grate- fully remember the efforts of their many teachers in molding them into useful, productive citizens of the future. 0 MR. AHLFORS Agriculture MR. As sophomores, we were represented at the Homecoming festivities by Attendant Kathy Schultz. As juniors we elected Mary Van Kempen to be our Homecoming attendant, and we pro- duced a prize winning float. Many hours of work and planning went into the l963 prom, but all went well as promgoers climbed a Stairway to the Stars. Carole Diekow reigned over our final Home- coming at IHS. The many class plays, dances, games, and school festivities will not soon be forgotten. Now, as we the class of l964, step out onto the threshold of a new world, we take with us a wealth of experience, friendship, and memories. 14 ACHTER, JAMES AHLBRECHT, JAMES AKER, LAURIE ALBERG, SUSAN ALLISON, SANDRA AMUNDSON, C. B. Tegland our president, Paul Strandberg our vice -president and Sue Gorham our secretary-treasurer. Members of our class joined clubs and actively participated in athletic events. We were ably represented at sports events by three junior cheerleaders in addition to our athletes. The 1963 Homecoming events provided Work and fun for our class. Our repre- sentative of beauty for the weekend was Lavonne Feda. Diligent Work and originality paid off when our junior float, Flatten Fergus, won first prize and claimed the class cup. The remaining part of the year found us busy with general classwork, our class play and other activities. The junior -Senior Prom, which We sponsored, was a main social event of the year. Our class worked faithfully to produce a gay and festive evening that will linger in the memories of all who attended. Now, final exams ended, We face with great expecta- tion our final year in high school--as seniors! 32 5 . . Y' T H - ff . v ' 4 ROW 1: S. Barholomew, J. Brockopp, E. Benesh, K. Anderson, D. ' We found Homecoming very exciting as Riki Ol- son represented us in the royal court. We produced a fine Homecoming float and entered into the spirit of the year, we investigated the academic opportunities of- fered at jefferson. We struggled through theorems, French and Latin verbs and ten-minute typing timings. We conquered poetry, grammar and world history. We had fun, and 'we learned something--perhaps! We were soon caught up in a whirl of extracurricular activities, which helped us to make new friends and mold our personalities. Now, as we end our first year of senior high school, we truly hope that the next two years before us will be as beneficial as our sophomore year. 38 'Y' 1 ROW 1: K. Cain, K. Aga, J. Anderson, M.
