An English test, a term paper, a football game, the dance after it, all these mean Jefferson Senior High School. We, the students, are JHS; we make it what it is. If it is a good school, it is because of the student body, the faculty, and the administration. Our high school years are the ones we shall never forget. We did so much, learned so much, enjoyed so much. These are the years of new experiences, new hopes, new dreams. We took a renewed and prideful interest in scholar- ship, looking ahead with contemplation and eager an- ticipation to college and future jobs and vocations, realizing their importance to us. Because of this we studied as we had never studied before. Our teachers became symbols of learning to us, respected and revered. New ideas were presented us; we found them stimulating and refreshing. The small world of our childhood grew and we became better individuals. We cheered our athletic teams--sometimes in victory, sometimes in defeat; but we cheered always with pride. They were an honorable symbol of our school. We expressed ourselves by joining the clubs of our special interests, and in doing so we contributed to JHS making it a better school. It was a good feeling to give to something from which we had gained so much. Like every class every year we had our special likes and fads. Girls wore stretch pants and flip hairdos; boys wore Cut-ups and Continental pants. We tried the Twist and the Limbo and make Telstar and Sherry our favorite songs. All these things we did with friends—friends made here at Jefferson. We spent wonderful hours with them studying, talking, laughing. They were our confidants and sympathizers. Friends played a very special and im- portant part in our high school life. We leave JHS behind us now; but wherever we go--to a job, a vocati be able to forget this school or these three years. This was Jefferson . . . this was our school. -
