The precision marching drill featured in two half-time shows proved that once again the band had worked hard. Then, when basketball season came along the Pep Band helped to cheer the team on with their rousing marches. The 96 piece Concert Band performed for three concerts during the year. The Annual Pop Concert held in early December was a tremendous success. It was entitled TheGay Ninties and featured vocal and instrumental solos and ensembles. In February, the Band made its appearance at the Annual Kiwanis Benefit Concert. To close the school year, the band invited Mr. Don Jacoby, famed trumpet virtuouso, as their guest clinician. The Alexian Staff wishes to salute this active organization--the Alexandria High School Band under the leadership of Mr. L. E. Christenson. Section Leaders: Joan Matthews Susan Larson Julie Pennertz Mary Boyd Bob Anderson Peter Perreten Bob Abbott Greg Seeger Susan Foslien Mary Olson 68 Choir Section Leaders Choir Officers The Alexandria High School Choir enjoyed a very busy year. The choir undertook a big job when it decided to compose the city directory. Work was started during the summer, and with many hours of hard work a complete directory of the city was finished. Other money making projects included the magazine drive, candy sales, and a weekend of stamping catalogs. The money earned went towards an extensive trip taken in the spring. In Him Was Light, and The Light Was The Light of Man was the theme for the Choir Christmas Concert, and the Choral Club and Select Grade School Choir also added beauty to this annual program. In February, the choir appeared in the Annual Kiwanis Benefit Concert. Mr. Gerhard Track, former director of the Vienna Boys' Choir and now director of St. John's University Choir, was invited as guest clinician in the spring. Eventually Miss Simmons almost found her- self committed to an institution. Everyone agreed that this was a successful production for the director Mr. Perdue, the Seniors, and the cast. 80 Cardinal Capers Bruce Phelps, Marcy Osterbergand Candy Rubink were the winners of cash prizes at the Cardinal Capers.
