J Dedication ' y We, the Seniors of 1959, dedicate our Alexian to Mr. Murrae N. Freng, who has distinguished himself while serving the students of the Alexandria High School for the past seven years as director of choral music. Mr. Freng, who was appointed head of the Music De- partment in 1955, has directed a number of outstand- ing choir concerts annually, all of which were praised by the overflowing crowds in attendance. This dedication is given sincerely by the graduating class which has profited greatly from the inspiration provided by Mr. Freng - - a man respected and ad- mired by his fellow faculty members and the student , body. y

Seniors First to Graduate from New School As we march down the aisle, we, the class of 1959, feel a special significance in being the first graduates of Jefferson High School. This school has held more meaning to us than any other class can feel. Back in the days when we were freshmen, we got our first taste of high school. We felt very proud to be head of the junior high and to have our own paper, the Cardette. This was the year the voters of our district decided that we should have a new senior high school. As the school went into the planning phase, we went into the sophomore class and senior high. This was the year we enjoyed many social activities, highlighted by the Sadie Hawkins Dance,which we sponsored. The new school went into construction and this class,then juniors, started our year with a terrific sellout for our class play, Meet Me in St. Louis. We also sponsored a beautiful prom with the theme Stairway to the Stars. Then came the big day. We as seniors walked through the doors of our new school. The fact that our job was not yet done was symbolized by the little inconveniences we underwent as the school neared completion. Miss Gail Rubink reigned as queen over our successful homecoming. In spring we became the guests at the prom and also enjoyed Senior Skip Day and the Senior Banquet. To conclude our high school days, we went through Honor Day, Baccalaureate, and Commencement. We now must take leave of the school. As it stands ready for the future, so may we.
