Classes were offered in French, German, Latin, Russian, and Spanish. Students and teachers alike were delighted with the revised Level One mater- ials. Frequent oral and listening practice both in the classroom and the lab made speaking a foreign langu- age a challenging and vital experience. Learning foreign THOMAS DeLaFLEUR songs and dances and preparing for the annual Mardi Gras Carnival helped to brighten the post-Christmas slump. MATHEMATICS The Math Department, home of last year’s fourth placing math team, added two new courses this year. Mathematical Analysis was discontinued and in its place Analytic Geometry and Calculus were added. Available for those students wishing to take one-half credit courses are Trigonometry, Functions, Probability-Statistics, and Analytic Geometry. New textbooks were also a great improvement in the department this year, and the change over will be completed next year; Geometry will LUROFF H. WILLIAMS retain the same text. B.S., Central Mo.
