ASSISTANTS VICKIE ALEXANDER KAREN BECKER SALLY ENGEL NINA GALLACHER JAYNE MEAD MARY NORDSTROM JACK WHETSTINE “A.D.P.? Never heard of it.” Oh, it s a small little room with all these machines that make noise every day. You can’t miss it.” “What do they do?” “I don’t know.” A.D.P. stands for Automatic Data Processing, which involves the use of IBM machines and other complex pieces of equipment. The assistants in A.D.P. have more jobs than all other assistants in the school. Although Mrs. Priestly does most of the general work, the helpers she has assist in making the absentee lists everyday; and at the beginning of school, they helped schedule the new students, dealing with the transfers and withdrawals. These people, under the guidance of Mrs. Priestly, confront and endure the con¬ stant churning of the machines through the day to make life easier for us. 18
