The English program at Thomas Jefferson High School has many facets, a facet for each student, but all facets, all students, are parts of the central issue: Man and his com¬ plex relationships communicating through the spoken and the written language. The elective courses have enlivened as well as enriched the English curriculum: Functional English for the ninth and tenth grades, World Civilization at the sophomore level, American Civilization for eleventh grade students, and for seniors, Advanced Placement English and the Seminar in Contemporary Problems.
