Mr. Jordan and Mr. Hanes discuss the widening of Braddock Road, November, 1967. COMMUNITY AND P.T.A. On Thursday, October 12th, the first meeting of the Thomas Jefferson High PTA for the 67-68 school year was called to order by John Hanes, President. This, being BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT, once again drew a capacity crowd with standing room only. Mr. Hanes welcomed all the parents and announced plans for the coming year, portraying the theme, “A Look at Thomas Jefferson High School.” Programs for meetings will feature participation of several depart¬ ments within the school, such as the Music Depart¬ ment, the Guidance Department, and others. Programs will also include guest speakers on subjects of interest to everyone. A DOOR PRIZE of 50 gallons of gas to the lucky parent and ten dollars in cash to the child of the parent will be awarded at each PTA meeting. This prize is being donated by Mr. Stroube of Lincolnia Mobil Service Station. The Band and Athletic Boosters, which are part of the PTA organization, plan an active, hard-hitting cam¬ paign to raise funds for the school. In summary — it is the PTA Board’s objective to strive for an increased membership, make their meetings entertaining and of special interest, and assist Mr. Jordan and the faculty whenever they can.
