As Denise Neas talks to Mr. Styles, Lynn Hatcher looks back. All the cheerleaders worked diligently for hours in practice. The Varsity Cheerleaders this year have shown the students of JFHS the true meaning of school spirit and dedication. Starting out with no uni¬ forms, they began work early in the summer to raise the needed money. It was a long season for these girls, cheering through both the football and basketball seasons. Forced to change sponsors be¬ tween seasons, and losing two girls placed an added burden on them, as a new sponsor and one new girl had to be broken in. Another problem was that new uniforms were again needed for winter, meaning more fund raising drives. At many times, it was a tiring and thankless job. It takes more than a pretty smile and the ability to turn a cartwheel to be a good cheerlead¬ er. Yet, at the same time, there was a great deal of pride and satisfaction to be gained. Tears of victo¬ ry and the hug of a team member after a win had a way of making it all worthwhile. Throughout the year, one thing was certain — when our girls sang, “Yes, we love our Cavaliers, we all knew they meant it!
