JEFFERSON DAVIS was Secretary of Wai' under President Pierce. He served in the Black Hawk Wa1', war with Mexico, and was wounded at lieuna Vista. First to suggest buying Panama Canal Zone, buying Cuba, and closer relations with South China. He is known by every person who knows little about America. Davis was nominated for President by Massachusetts in 1860. He stood strongly for the Union but stressed the constitutional right of a state to secede. His home known as llr:AUvo1k is pictured below. lt is one of the most beautiful spots in the South. lt is located in Biloxi, Mississippi.
