Text from Pages 1 - 100 of the 1983 volume:

Dedication The dedication of a yearbook is a serious matter, as it is an honor which should be given only to the one who deserves it. After a lot of thought and careful planning. we have decided to dedicate this year's Jeffersonian to Mary Joe Jacobs. Mary Joe was born in Louisville. Kentucky. on February 4. I943. She was married to Bob Jacobs in l964. and gave birth to two daughters. now aged l0 and IS. Mary Joe spent a good portion of her life in her hometown and during the rest she lived in such places as Cincinnati. Ohio; Buffalo. N.Y.; Canandaigua. N.Y.; Mt. Holly. NJ. She has lived seven years in Watertown. Mary Joe has been employed by the college a total of l V: years tpart-time for one year. and one half year of full-time dutiesi. Her talents are always appreciated in the Student Resources Center, where she runs the office while assisting students with their problems and answering questions. Mary Joe's help has been invaluable to all, but no one appreciates her more than the Jeffersonian staff. Never a day has gone by in which she didn't lend us her tape. paperclips. typewriting correctors. time. or whatever else we were lacking in. With these thoughts in mind, we dedicate this edition of the Jeffersonian to Mary Joe Jacobs with our heartfelt gratitude. The student body thanks Mary Joe for her aid and support throughout the year. Dedicated to Mrs. Mary Joe Jacobs l983 Jeffersonian The purpose of this yearls Jeffersonian is to give the students of Jefferson Community College some- thing to reflect on in future years. Jefferson Community College means very different things to many different students To some. Jefferson will be the only college that they will attend. To oth- ers. Jefferson will be their first experience with college. and then they will transfer to another college. No matter what Jefferson means to each student. we hope that we have captured the memories of this year. We hope that the hours we have spent will bring even more hours of good memories for you. and all of the other students here at Jefferson Community College. Henderson Piesidenl All indications at present suggest that persons entering the employment market during the l9805 will be re- quired to work and live in a high technology environment. This will amplify the leadership skills college-trained men and women have traditionally provided for the production of goods and services in the United States. The education you have received at Jefferson Community College will certainly not be the end of the learning cycle for any of you. Our country must respond to increasing competition throughout the world in order to maintain its leadership role. The adaptation to change and the retraining requirements of the future will be easier for those with excel- lent educational backgrounds. l predict the high achievers of the future will be those with the greatest commitment to strengthening their educational accomplishments. Best wishes for continued success. Board of Trustees Wes Daniels. Donald Granl, Douglas Murray. Mugarel Gosiev, Thomas Waller. Jodey Ryan Albert Brown. Missing: Robe Howe, Kim Manurewicz, George Woodvu . The Jefferson Community College Board of Trustees consists of ten people who set the policies of the college.
