JEFFERSON COMMUNITY COLLEGE vninrovu, NKV Von: mm TO THE CLASS OF 1981 In 1961, the topic of establishing a community college in Jefferson County was very contoversialt Fortu- nately, those favoring the establishment of the College were successful and this entire region has benefited from convenient access to a wide range of college programs for nearly twenty years. I doubt that even the most optimistic of those promoting the establishment of ICC would have envisioned the excellent faculty, di- verse programming, and beautiful campus complex that now serve our students. The demand for admission to Jefferson has never been stronger-an expression of confidence by our stu- dents that is highly valued by all who teach and work at the College. We must continue to provide the high quality educational experiences that you have enjoyed and look forward to your support of the College's programs in the years ahead. Those completing their study at the college this year will be joining several thousand other ICC alumni who have applied the education gained here to successful employment experiences and to the enrichment of their personal lives. Shaw, M, Hughes The Center of Activity Circle K is an organization comprised of students who are working to improve studenvcommunity interaction. A few community projects of Circle K are: bowling with the elderly every week, activities with the Jefferson County Children's Home, and the annual Christmas party for under-priviledged children. Circle K also works to help other community organizations, such as, the Red Cross, the Kiwanis Club, and the Heart Association Be- sides our community activities, school activities such as the Halloween Beer Blast combine to make Circle K one of the most active clubs on campus; Janet Reed 62 Esjeeay Whatl? SGA is the governing body of the students of ICC It consists of four eleded officers, a representative from each club, and eight Class Council members. SGA is totally operated, organized, and financed by students for the purpose of serving student needs and and interests. Student Government participates in the formation of college policies and regulations, and gives support to student concerns. All clubs and many ac- tivities receive their budget through SGA Student Gov- ernment oversees club activities and helps clubs oper- ate smoothly. Pearson. ll Cox The function of the CAC is to pro- vide ICC with a wide variety of pro- gramming throughout the year, Pro- grams range from rock and roll to Shakespeare plays. Since the budget is based on the student activity fee each semester, the committee tries to choose programs that will accommo- date the tastes and preferences of the majority of students. There are 13 members on the CAC: 6 faculty and staff and 7 student, Romeo 8: luliet and A Comedy of Errors entertained over 800 people. Other events in- cluded weekly movies and concerts presented by the Syracuse Symphony. The Art Gallery exhibited the works of lCC students and staff while also featuring local artists and The Third Annual Photography Competition. Coffeehouses, novelty acts, lectures, dance, concerts, and a variety of oth- er events were included in our pro- gramming. Lisl Strader CulturehThat's Our Affair 65 66 The Faculty-Student Association is governed by a Board of Directors Consisting of eleven members-five students, three teaching faculty, one administrator, one member from educational services and one member from the classified staff, F.SAAA is responsible for all beer and wine on campus The association provides part-time employment to several students who are hired as bartenders and supervisors for social hours and beer blasts. The book store on campus is funded by F.S.A.. It hires the manager and the students who work part-time in the store. F.S.A. also helps in funding organizations who may need extra money for a project.
