:4. H400 ADMINISTRATION BUILDING . 7 Jefferson Community College Watertouln, New York Jefferson ian Volume VI 7970 ARC H WES - editors - I Dorothy Harris Marie Schuleitzer Jefferson Community College IS a very small part of the world. The bUIldings, as buildings must be, are very hard and cold and stationary. But the real school is a living, moving thing. And in spite of the walls. there is a communication, there is a feeling, there are Ideas exchanged and dreams begun, because there are people. When the people have gone, the ideas and the dreams wull remain-the things first hoped for by other men who pushed the hopes a little farther toward the realization. So we inherit old hopes and create our own by seeking a world in which they can all come true. This world can only exist through our own indiwdual effort. ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY. . ,13 ACTIVITIES. . ,23 SPORTS 4611 SENIORS. . .50 FRESHMEN . . .42 W View Dr. Fred J. McCarthy In today's society, most individuals and individual goals are accepted merely at face value. This is especially true of college students who, at a most hopeful and exciting period of their lives, find that many of their dreams and aspirations are stifled by the fast pace of today's way of living. It is indeed fortunate that Jefferson has an exception to the rule, for we possess a man whose sincerity is refreshing to students who seek a help ing hand. It is to this man that the Jeffersonian offers its dedication. His intense regard for duty, his loyalty to the college, and his concern for the well-being of individuals as well as combined student functions are the things which make us, the class of 1970, feel honored in our dedication of this year's Jeffersonian to Dr. Fred J. McCarthy. James E. McVean President President's M essaqe in these days when all facets of higher education are being challenged, governance is being questioned, and students are assuming new roles of responsibility, we must dedicate our- selves to the search for truth, not only as it will affect our lives this year, but in the decades before us. Every indication is that our society shall continue to change at an ever-increasing rate. We must make certain that change comes about logically and that it improves upon that which now exists. Leadership in affecting change must come from informed and dedicated citizenry. You who have the benefit of a Hcollege education have an obligation to play an active role in shaping the future. You have an obligation to remain informed and this implies that your education must continue for the rest of your productive years. We who are older envy your opportunity to share in the great challenges extending into the twenty-first century. We take confidence from the belief that the portion of your education for which we have been responsible will serve to equip you for these challenges. .CWCyW Board Of Trustees Dr. Peckham CHAIRMAN Mr. Galhger Mr. Bachman Mrs. Cosgrove VICEVCHAIRMAN Mr. Shapiro Mr. Videtto Mrs. WardweH '2 appomtments pending FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATION Gerald Vl. We moved into it and we grew with it It became a part of us. and we a part of it. Yet, its story was not of us, but ALL the people at Jefferson Community College. Now the yearbook lives. It has been created after many long and hard, yearning and teaming hours. I F you can recall pleasant memories. . .we have not failed. ,Fthere are times, while you page through our book, that you wish you could relive. . , we have not failed, IF the individual feelings for the year are easily remembered: the lee tureseboring; the instructors-rigid; the halls-impossible;the snoweever pres- ent; the draft deferments-recalling t . .we have not failed ,Fyou can see beyond the pictures and journey into the meanings of the expressions on the faces, considering what is being done, what may affect the outcome, and what may be the reasone . . then YOU have not failed. FOR memories are spurred only by minute moments and thus a sim- ple picture may fulfill hours of recalled love, hate, failure, achievement, reward, discredit, companionship, and loneliness. OURspecial appreciation goes to the faithtui five that started with the yearbook in September and ended with it in February: Mark, Paul, Jeff, Effie, and Gary. We have a sincere appreciation for our adviser, Miss Banner, who put up with us through good and bad time$ Our thanks go to Mre Turcott for ail his help in the photography of the book. THEYearbook, in its final form, is love, truth, beauty, corn, and a lit- tle salt. dh, ms 95 96 The Beginning I-Ii-rE-r . gaff; MINISTRATION BUILDING -
