Senior History The Senior Class of 1945 is quite distinguished since it is from the class of '43'thet the govern- ment took its first eighteen-year-old draftees. Ours is the first class to graduate into the Army or Navy almost en masse. We' re the class.which was handed from dean to dean. We're the class which went to four high schools; we're the class that produced Sprin Fever, and the one With almost no boys for The Importance 2i Being Earnest. We produced more than our share of celebrities: football players, basket ball heroes, singers, mesi- cians, actors, and speakers. It's too early to know now, but from the chemistry classes a chemist may yet emerge. It was during our reign that a democratic student council first began to function. we revived, too, the fine custom of the juniors giving a dance to the seniors. And who will ever forget the Barn Dance or the Junior-Senior Dance of '42? Our officers have always been a point of pride. Our freshman president was Roy Payne;vice-president, Caroline Fischer;secretary, June Norfleet; and Toots James, treasurer. In our last year at Junior High, Margaret Claiborne was president, ari Dean Mitchell was vice president.John Von Der Bruegge was treasurer. When we came to Junior College,Dean was elected pres- ident, L. B. Lake vice-president, and John Von Der Bruegge secretary-treasurer. Something new was add- ed with the class election of Mary David Rootes and Ralph Catlin to the Student Council. We were a fine class, and we had lots of fun, and a class such as we are should really do things. So hurray for the class of '45!
