N SECOND: I give, devise and bequeath the following assets as herein set forth: Doris Buck, do will and bequeath her cheerful and friendly ways to Claudia Schneider. Phyllis Boerner, do will and bequeath her lovely long red hair to Betty Tollefsen. Martin Wenzel, do will and bequeath his posi- tion as lone star of the Class of '52 and his greatest sympathy to the next person who holds that honored post. Sally Decker, do will and bequeath her athle- tic and scholastic ability to Ruth Mackey, Margaret Van Dusen, do will and bequeath her ability as a French and Science major to Kar- en Fraser. MarySue Hedman, do will and bequeath her abi- lity to attend the dances at Davenport every Saturday night to Nancy Reim. Anna Weger, do will and bequeath her ability as the very efficient head typist of Blotter and Yearbook to Rosemarie Reinwald. Jacqueline Fraser, do will and bequeath her position as third trombone player in the band to anyone who will get as much enjoyment from it as she has. The four cheerleaders-Doris, Margaret, Anna, and Phyllis-leave their positions on the var- sity cheering squad to their fortunate suc- cessors in the hope that the new members will derive as much pleasure from their posts as the four seniors have. To the next fortunate class to receive the library as a homeroom, we hope that it will bring them as much luck and as many happy ex- periences as we have had there. LASTLY, We hereby appointMISS MORRILL executrix of this, our last WILL and TESTAMENT: hereby revoking all former wills made. IN WITNESS FHEREOF: We have hereunto subscribed our name fat JEFFQRSON, NEW YORK the 23rd dav of June in the year Nineteen Hundred and Fity Two. Q 07-ffiefz 0,156 pI 0l0 QC? June, 2010 Hidden behind a garden wall and tucked away from the 21st century is a humble establishment identified by a weath- ered sign swinging o'er the iron gate - nOld Folks.n This quite simply states that 'old folks' live within. These old folks are a rare collection of brain and bone, dating far back into another century. For here we have the Class of '52, 1952- It is fortunate that the eight members of the class have decided to terminate their lives together, for the at- mosphere of this home is indeed plesant and golden. We are all experiencing our 75th year of prosperous and happy lives. It has been 58 years since our graduation. That is many years to account for, so I will offer but brief summaries of our activities from then until now. Doris Buck accomplished her aim in life and became a home economics teacher back in the 20th century. She stud- ied further and established herself as a noted authority on foods and sewing, as well as designing. Doris keeps all the inmates of the home healthy with her 'old age' diets - Cal- though we long for a hearty meal at the expense of acute in- digestionj. Anna Weger followed her interests in the world of com- merce and taught commercial subjects after her graduation from college. She extended her knowledge directly to a prom- inent position in big business. Here at the home Anna takes charge of finances and efficiently manages all business af- fairs. As a crafty little old woman she has collected life insurance on us three times! Jackie Fraser continued to study music after 1952 and learned to play several instruments. She continued to work successfully along professional lines. Still, she considers the trombone the best of all instruments. We know because she plays it daily at the 'old folks' homeg a mighty loud instrument for a delicate old lady of 751 Mary Sue Hedman is constantly shuffling about, taking the greatest care of any minor 'old age' complaint. She be- came a nurse to the highest degree and loved the work im- mensely. If we have no ills she creates them for us, so that she can keep in the 'practice of the pills.' ,ol-'0fAC C! contin uae! Margaret Van Dusen went on after high school graduation to become a grade school teacher. She mastered the great art of controlling children, and she is an expert story-tel- ler. This, she has proven to us by telling children's sto- ries when we sit idly in the garden at the home. She keeps us on the edge of our chairs while she relates the tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The world has learned of Sally Decker's career, for it has unveiled mysteries of science and opened a vast field of research in super-atomic study. As one of the 'old folks' Sally continues to experiment on a small scale, not doing too much damage other than interfering greatly with Doris' kitchen work. And of course, Martin Wenzel is here too. He has farm- ed the land for many, many years and he has set the ways for new and effective conservation methods. Now, however, he is content to take care of the 'home' garden, and he takes enormous pride in his sweet pea vines and roses. As for myself, I taught in a grade school back in the l9OO1s and did some writing on the side. I am attempting to keep a diary about life here at the home, and at the same time am trying to redecorate the interior of the house. It's quite a struggle what with all these moderns opposing my early American ideas. My lands, I almost forgot Old Mother Morrill! She's Bl now and although she's in her second childhood, she hasn't changed a bit in regard to money matters. Everything move- able she has sold, and in her spare time she counts her coins or printed bills. May I add that we have all been happily married, love our grandchildren, and are very happy and content to be back together again after all these years, still as the Class of fa- e came lst row: Buck, Van Dusen, Decker, Weger. 2nd row: Boerner, Hedman, Wenzel, Fraser, Miss Morrill-advisor. CALM .Mdfory We began our high school years in 1948. The freshmen year was filled with new experiences for all of us. The first event was Freshmen initiation. We shook in our boots the day before, fearfully anticipating the actual day. We had a fine time, however, performing our truth and consequen- ces. Our class officers were: President, Sally Deckerg Vice President, Anna Wegerg Secretary, Phyllis Boernerg Treasurer, Doris Buck, and Student Councilor, Margaret Van Dusen. We had a class hayride in the fall which everyone enjoyed. Mr. McNeilly was our advisor. During our Sophomore year we were guided by the same of- ficers that served during the Freshmen year. We sponsored a dance, several candy sales and sold refreshments at one of the basketball games. We enjoyed a very successful year under the guidance of Miss Baranowski. The biggest thrill of the Junior year occurred the mo- ment We received our class rings. We chose a rectangular shaped ring with the school crest mounted on the variows col- ored stones. Again we sponsored a fall dance. Throughout the year we were active with the sale of greeting cards and ngobbies.n President, Anna Wegerg Vice President, John Freyg Secretary, Phyllis Boernerg Treasurer, Doris Buckg Student Councilor, Sally Deckerg and our advisor, Miss Greene, made our career as Juniors very successful. Our Senior year was filled to the brim with good times mixed with hard work. Early in the fall we sponsored the an- nual Halloween party. The Senior class made a very striking appearance as the uchain gangn. Following this, all our spare time was spent on nwinter Wonderland,H our Senior Ball. The results were astounding and everyone enjoyed himself im- mensely. Our next project was the sale of candy and person- alized stationery. A very successful card party was held on February 29. A quiet evening was spent playing cards and re- freshments were served. A play entitled NI Shall Be Waitingn was presented in March and was very well received. Throughout all our activi- ties the thought of the trip to New York at Easter time stuck in the back of our minds, always making us work harder. Fin- ally it became a reality, and with a substantial bank account we went merrily on our way to invade the great metropolis. Of course, we all looked forward to graduation. We were happy to be graduating and were looking forward to college, but still sad to be leaving our friends and most of all our beloved ndear old J.c.s.H We will never forget the guiding hand of our advisor, Miss Morrill, as well as the help of Mr. Lambrecht and the entire faculty. As both individuals and entire groups, the grades enjoyed many activities, parties and en- tertainments. During the fall the children dressed in costumes and had par- ties on Halloween, and studied various units that allowed for in- teresting field trips in connection with the work. The highlight of the year was the Christmas program, presented to the School and Community Club on December 12. All the grade school teachers and children from all the classes helped to make this activity very successful indeed. The Kindergarten work was concerned with teaching they child- ren how to work and play together. This was accomplished through units about uPetsn, Wcommunity Helpersn, uThe Homen, N The Circusn, and others. The first graders began to read, print, and learned to use numbers, along with interesting activities in the fields of science and social studies. Mothers were invited to visit the second grade classroom when the children completed a unit on nFiremen.H This class made two murals illustrating winter and Thanksgiving. A trip to a bakery, nature hikes and holiday celebrations were pleasant instances in the school year of the third grade. In con- nection with their work in social studies the pupils made butter and kept weather charts. With the fourth grade as a separate group for the first time, the class enjoyed many activities and parties throughout the year. Forty boys and girls constituted grades five and six, which made for an enjoyable' year in Mrs. Fox's room. Especially pleasant were the Christmas activities, a party, and the entertainment for the Community Club. The trip to Howe Caverns was an interesting one on the last day of school. Each grade welcomed new pupils and thoroughly enjoyed the 1951- l952 year. FIRST GRADE lst row: Guntert, Reed, W. Roe, C. Roe, Schmidt, Champlin. 2nd' row: Ericson, Loucks, E. Music Department started a very successful year by putting on a chicken supper from which we earned a large profit. On December 20, 1951, the band and chorus groups presented their annual Christmas concert. Although the weather did not permit a large attendance, this concert of Christmas music was enjoyed by everyone. ' April 25, 1952, brought the beginning of the three day Scho- harie County Music Festival. The first night one group of Jeff- erson's musicians performed at Middleburgh. On the Friday night of the following week the remainder of our music department put on a very acceptable performance at Schoharie. On Saturday, May 3, a select group of J.C.S. students had the pleasure of working with the guest conductors for the County Massed Groups and pre- senting the final concert of the Festival in Cobleskill. During the spring J.C.S. music department also traveled to Schenectady where we did an assembly program in one of the schools. The highlight of our year came when we were able to perform the music we had been working so hard at in the annual spring concert here in our own auditorium. 04, A5- is-0S'53'c1 9- Y Oo' 9525 -cov- g,'ypodL9, w 900000, 'gem ' V A oegggg' 9-090500 . 7,05 f0 - SQAZOSCQQ Qf6q,'S6096N1 ' YQOQ of 0 E306 9 QQ09 'CO695m X509 1 ig. Starting off with a close score against the much taller and more experienced Delanson team, the Jefferson team never seemed to get started until later in the last quarter. The exceptions to this pattern were Middleburgh and Berne Knox games, during which Jefferson 'started out with a close first half and fell down in the last half. After losing George Brooks in January, the Jefferson- ions didn't have a chance against the more experienced boys of the opposite teams. Next year we hope to have an experienced and a better team, since we will have most of this year's players back on the Varsity team.
