XAIIAA ' Camp l.lUNI7IIII7IflJ1'I' E Message of the Camp Commander I i i You young men of Arkansas and Xlissouri, who have completed thirty days intensive i military training at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., have made one of the most important steps l 1 u in your lives. y l You have learned obedience and discipline and you have learned how to accomplish l things quickly yet efficiently. You have learned to keep yourselves physically fit at all l times and under all conditions. 3 You men, the future leaders of our nation and the pride of your country, will return Kip to your homes better citizens and better, cleaner and quicker thinkers. You have been trained to become commissioned and non-commissioned officers. You men will, in time 5 of war, be already trained and it will be you who will step forward when our brave old l eagle of freedom first screams forth in anger at the approaching enemy. Q ll e will all look forward to the returning of you men next year. You have done nobly during your training period and you have accomplished much. You have worked when tllgere was work to be done and when the recreation hour was at hand you made the Hlcisl V O lt. lt is true that you were kept hard at work a large percentage of the time but l haw yet to hear you grumble. l repeat that you have done nobly. Klay you ever prosper, H.x1,sr5v li. Yvrrzs, Colonel lv. S. gkriny. l Qainp C oininztntler. l'r1'w' 7l C 'llfX'-l 'f1 e . .t , tt ,
JEFFERSONIAN .Herzdquariers C. M , , . . . lhe publication and issue of this .Xnnual marks the closing period til' Llatnp. liach and every one of you will carry away from here certain INCXIIN'I'lCS'r'SUI'I1C pleasant, others un- pleasant. Many, also, probably will depart in better physical condition than when they arrived, due to the regularity of work. of meals, and of play. Remember this fact, that in order to do your work wellsbe it that of a student or a toiler-it is absolutely essential that the body be kept in first-class condition. You have been told how necessary it is to keep the body clean in order to maintain good health. lt is quite as necessary that you keep your mind clean also. The young man who uses profane and obscene language constantly is soon classed as a rowdy and a tough. An employer with a position open looks for a de- pendable young man to fill it-he does not offer it to a man known as a tough and a rowdy. Q -wr Ilona,-tex. li. l'i.1,1 I fmfvffftiz T. C. Now, you are not independent of your neighbors-youlve got to depend on them more or less. The time will arrive when you will have to ask a favor. So why not conduct yourself in such a manner that it will be a pleasure for your neighbor to grant your request-whether it be for a loan ofa farm implement or an indorse- ment on your note? Sr-1 l say to your Keep your mind clean as well as your body, so that youlll be welcome wherever you go. XY. H. CTLENDENIN, Executive Officer. f 1 Vw 1 ficwffv-!fl1,f'r'.'
