J 5' al v . iii 4 Wigan'- Dedication Jane C. Lucchesi We, the Class of 1964, dedicate this Chronoscope to Mrs. Jane C. Lucchesi. We wish to thank her for her help, patience, and understanding in the classroom as well as in the library. No words can express our sincere and humble gratitude for her many years of service. 4 -on-J 1 Principal's Message The first job a person has is to obtain an education. It is one of the most important goals to achieve, because it will affectyou the rest of your life. It is my sincere hope that each Senior at Jeffers has obtained the education he desires. I extend an invitation to the Seniors to come back and visit us after they have graduated, adage Superintendenfs Message Did you ever think as you participated in a play or athletic contest, or helped plan and attended a dinner-dance or smorgasbord, or became involved in special projects and class discussions, that memories are made of these? In this yearbook you have captured many of these. In the future you will look through these pages and recall faces and friendships. You will recall opportunities which were yours: some of which you took advantage of and some you did not. As you grow older, you will realize that many opportunities were not yours because of lack of educational facilities. As you have received a broader and bet- ter education than your parents: so you should strive to give your children a better educa- tion. fayli 14..,.z:::., Board of Education H3 S Y:--' STANDING: Charles I-Ieikkinen, Tauno Kilpela, Yalmer Mattila. Johnny is only a 2 Dab man! The Anatomy of John Blom, The Way The trend today is toward a feminine-ruled society. This is very evident in our school where girls dominate every scene with their intellectual and persuasive powers. The de- feated boys finally decided to drop out of the raceg thus, becoming mere slaves to the more dominant sex. ' 20 It Isn't On any typical day at Jeffers the boys have pushed the girls into the background, where girls belong. At times, for the sake of com- petition, the true rulers let the girls think they-have the ability to make decisions. Hard days of loafing around the water fountain take their tollg and a couple hand- fuls of aspirin are necessary to soothe tired male brains. New Club is added to our school. Seniors, don 't let excess worries make you tense and irritable! Another day has come to an end. Senior Honors Mrs. Horton - Adivsor, Susan Tolonen - President, Pat Rozich - Vice-President, Patty Kamppinen - Secretary, John Blom - Treasurer, Mr. Davis - Advisor. BOYS' STATE REPRESENTATIVE One of the highlights of my years in high school was being chosen as one of the representatives from our school to Wolverine Boys' State. I feel this experience helped me greatly in developing a 'broader knowledge of governmental operations. I know that I will always remember' this incident. John Blom CARD SALE CHAIRMEN One of the main money-making projects of the senior class is the sale of Christmas cards. The students first take orders and then deliver the items to the customers. It requires a lot of time and effort but the re- wards are great. The class thanks Ann Juntikka and Karen Karppinen for a job well done. HOMEMAKER OF TOMORROW Joan Dennis is our school's 1964 Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow. She achieved the highest score here in a written knowledge and attitude examination given Dec. 3, 1963. to all Senior girls. General Mills, Inc., sponsor of the program, has awarded her with the 'Homemaker of Tomor- row pin to signify her achievement. Her test paper has been entered in competition for state honors. GIRLS' STATE REPRESENTATIVE Susan Tolonen attended the Wolverine Girls' State in June of 1963. As one of 400 girls, she participated in the mock govern- ment designed to stimulate a lasting interest in and knowledge of real governmental pro- cedures. The varied program combined fun, work, and learning. She was elected to the House of Representatives to represent Alber City. She thanks everyone who helped make her wonderful trip possible and wishes luck and happiness to the future Girl Staters. 4-W? I' s X, 4, SMORGASBORD CHAIRMEN The Senior Class was proud of the well- attended smorgasbord which was held in the gymnasium. They would like to thank all of the people who made it possible, especial- ly their own chairmen, Patty Kamppinen and Anne Juntikka. by 1 JOHN BAIMA - Basketball 1, 4, Intramurals 2, 3, Chorus 2, 3, 4, J-Club 4, Cross Coun- try 1,4, Honor Society 2, 3, 4, Operetta 4, Play 4, Ger- man Club 3, 4. Each noon, candy is sold by our thrifty Freshmen. The sales of sweets have proven to be both a treat to the students and a source of profit to the class. Action in The pop machine aids in quenching noon hour thirst, as well as serving as a center for social gath- erings. The School Prospective underclass- men practice often with the hope of obtaining the highly esteemed position of a ma- jorette. Mr. Davis and the sec- retaries are kept busy each morning and noon when the students gather at the office window to buy supplies, ob- tain excuses, and other ma- terials. The team maintained a nev- er give up attitude throughout the season, which contributed to fine sportsmanship and hard play- ing in all the games. This year the varsity squad, coache by Carl Johnson, will lose four valuable players, Pat Rozich, Dave Kantola, John Baima, and Don Saari. Enthusiasm and spirit were built up among the stu- dents during the week, as preparations were made for the event. Highlight of the Homecoming was the crowning of the queen, Edith Han- sen, the Junior candidate. Mr, Hamp- ton crowned the queen before a full audience between the Varsity and Junior Varsity games. Fay Johnson carried out the crown and Debbie Sloan the bouquet of roses for Queen Edith. The band and twirlers entertained the audience during the half time of the Varsity game by marching in pre- cision, while playing several lively tunes. Although the game with Hancock was not a victory, the spirits of the fans were not dampened. Queen Edith reigned at the dance following.
