JEANNETTE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL JEANNETTE, PA. 1968 JAYHAWK T ADMINISTRATION FACULTY SENIORS JUNIORS SOPHOMORES ACTIVITIES ATHLETICS The hook you are about to read should bring hack many memories. I hope that these memories are as happy for you as they are for me. As a senior, I can say that the three years I have spent in Jeannette Senior High are three of the best years of my life and will he lung remembered and cherished. On leaving this school. I will feel as though 1 am leaving part of myself behind. Perhaps though, it is not the school itself I will miss, but the friends I have made while here. Leaving these friends will be the hardest part of leaving. To the new juniors and seniors, and especially to my graduating class. I wish happiness and success in whatever you choose to do. Happiness is Jirst because no matter what you do, as long as you're happy—that's what really counts. The Editor SUPERINTENDENT JEANNETTE PUBLIC SCHOOLS SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL MR. HENRY W. PHARAOH MR. ROBERT J. KERR In appreciation for the guidance and instruction given to us by the administration of the Jeannette School System, we the class of 68 , would like to express our gratitude. It is through the efforts of this group of hardworking people, that our education is what it is. Without this help our education would be less complete and our high school years less memorable. MR. To help answer this question at Jeannette Senior High School are M iss Elsie Fontanella and Mr. James Sacriponte. They offer their best advice to those who are uncertain of what course to take, waht type of a job would be best suited for them, or which college to apply to. W7e thank them for a job well done. Okay Dave, what's up now?” OFFICE STAFF MRS. VIRGINIA MOCZYDLOWSKY MRS. MARGARET NOVAK Never too busy for a smile. That could be a description of the friendly and competent members of the Jeannette Senior High School office staff. Composed of Mrs. Moc-zydlowsky, Mrs. Novak, and Mrs. Bender, the staff is kept quite busy doing their general office work. But they are not alone in doing their work. Lending an appreciated hand are the student helpers who work during their study halls. ‘MRS. B. AND CO.” 14 Front Left: Paula Spino, Patty Soilecchio, Beverly McDonald, Diane Tangretti, Mary Porreca. FlorenceTocco THE— BIG ONES SENIORS Boy is that a big word, but it has to be. So much goes into making a senior, Twelve years, f ro twelve years of hard work, disappointments, sorrows, miseries; Twelve years of excitement, joy, happiness, and hope . . . It took twelve years but now we're Seniors. We're the big ones. It's our turn to smile when that diploma is pressed into our hands. Our eyes water, our vision blurs, and a tear marks not the end, but the beginning of a new world for us, A world of ideas, A world of opportunities, A world to shape and build as we see fit, -----------------the world is ours. 68 IN MEMORIAM - John Lavella, January 19, 1965 SANDY MALACHOWSKI Vice-President SALLY KEARNEY Secretary TIM HARTUNG President BOB FISHER Treasurer CLASS ADVISOR—Earle A. The main event of this evening was the crowning of this year’s Reigndear Queen. The Queen and her attendant were chosen from the seven candidates, each nominated to represent their senior homeroom. The final choice was based on poise, appearance, and personality. Chosen as this year’s Queen was Joyce Tocco, with Stephanie Giacomo, as her at tendant. The remaining five girls constitute the Queen's Court. Though it was a night that can never be recaptured, the memorx of this evening will be cherished in the memories of all for a long time. This year the band performed a precision half-time show for every’ football game. These shows were led by Drum Major- Terry Stepanik, Captain of the majorettes- Lucille Marsh, and her Co-captains- Donna Conrad and Debbie Wilson. Under the direction of Mr. David Diehl, each member works hard in preparing for the annual Christmas assembly and Spring Concert. At the beginning of the school year, each member is carefully chosen. They enjoy harmonizing together and are rewarded by the hearty applause from the audience. A “swinging” organization of Jeannette Senior High School is the stage band. This group of talented musicians practice hard during sixth period to prepare for their performances. Under the direction of Mr. David J. Diehl, they play both popular music and jazz. Throughout the campaign the squad has shown improvement. The losses to Connellsville and kiski, two of the better teams of the conference, came in the final minutes of play. In the game with arch-rival Greensburg, our team was down fourteen points in the first quarter and fought back with thirteen points only to see the Lions score the winning T.D. in the third quarter. The boys played their best with plenty of J.S.H.S. spirit. COACHES: Left— Mr Nicholas Nardiz .i. Mr James Myford, Mr Thomas Duff (Head Coach). Mr Lawrence Niedzalkoski. Mr Alfred J.S.H.S. GPP. Led by head coach Carl Davis, the 68 Jayhawk squad has shown a never-say-die hustling attitude throughout the season. Compiling a section record of 11-2, the boys won the Section II-A title for the second time in three years. They had to defeat the Latrobe Wildcats at the Pitt Field House to do it. Rated by most of the experts to finish second behind the Wildcats, the Jays came on strong to finish the regular season tied with Latrobe for the title, thus producing the play-off. In the exciting contest the Hawks won the right to advance to the quarter-finals of the WPIAL. In the quarter-finals, our team was defeated by Laurel Highlands, Section 7 Champions. The loyal Jayhawk fans can be proud of our team, the Section II-A Champs with an overall record of 18-5. Left—Mike Priolo. George Wolfe, Frank Prettiman. Paul Daniels, Tom Kennedy. Their enthusiasm and new way of cheering has stirred up school spirit in the hearts of the Student Body to back our Jayhawk sports. They have worked a great deal and have gone to cheerleading camp during the summer where they won the first place trophy. They couldn't have done such a great job without the help of their sponsor, Mrs. McClain. Cheerleading is exciting and takes a great deal of time and hard work, but the girls will always remember their experiences as cheerleaders.
