The Bryant Literary Society was rirst organized this year. Great interest has been shown among the students of this society. ' ' A hlvitra Louls Naples The football season of 1922 was one of the best I H S has ever known Under the splendxd coachxng of Mr Lembach and also due to the fact that there were elght letter men from the precedmg year a very d1fficult schcdul was carrled out The team was much hghter m wexght than any of our op ponents and therefore d1d not wm all the games However wlth all thls against us the pomts we scored more than doubled those scored agamst us The enthus asm for basketball has mcreased a hundredfold sxnce we have the new gymnaslum to play ln a gymnaslum whlch IS sald to be the fmest ln western Pennsylvanla Although there were onlv two letter men left from last year our falthful coach Mr Lembach soon produced a team that was a terror to any other t am on the floor The schedule was successful and we won nme games out of f1f teen The gxrls basketball team must also be mentloned as they have shown re markable progress thls year They have been organlzed for several years but thls s the first year Mr Lembach has been secured to coach them Thelr abll 1ty has been proved by the record th y have obtamed wmmng s1x out of the ten games played whlch shows up well for the glrls Baseball IS not so popular ln Jeannette Hlgh School as lt formerly was because most hlgh schools seem to be l1m1t1ng thls sport to mterclass games only Jeannettes schedule w1ll thus be planned th1s year and much rlvalry and enthuslasn 1S hoped for among the dxfferent classes At the close of our school athletics comes tennls Although tenms was only mtroduced last year much lnterest xs shown by many of the students to ward thls sport The season started late last sprlng so only a few games could be played The schedule for th s year has already been arranged and the pros pects of the team look good We hope our tennis players brmg home a few more honors for Jeannette ln the comlng events As a whole the athletlcs of thls year have 1mproved conslderably over those of prevmous years The mam reason was the cons1stent and patlent c achxng of Mr Lembach but backlno thls was the Splflt of students and the new I-Ilgh School Next year Mx Lembach w1ll have char e of physxcal tramxng only and a new coach has been secured for football and basketball We hope for contmued success under hxs management I-mrs l-ou! t 0 . , - . .. . . .
