HISTORY Twelve of the most worthwhile years of their lives started for 62 students as they entered the first grade in the fall of l947. Of that number, the l7 who remainfor graduation are: Steve Dixon Gene Brooks Jim Hill Jim Hodges Bill Jones Jackie Maynard Bethyl Barnes Karen Cox Retha Martino Carmaleta Payton Aronda Roberts Joanne Stover Polly Brewster John Reardon and Charles Thatcher In the second grade Mike Bell Joined us and in the third grade we gained Jim Heard and Carl Meadows Our only addition in the fourth was Bobbie Keener In the fifth grade Chris Bolton and Jerry NelsonJo1ned the troup in the sixth Linda Henderson and Eva Mason Joined our enlarging class In the seventh grade our new recruits were Ne1lBurcham Melba Hendren and Treva Martin while those who Joined our group in the eighth grade were SueAnn Cantrell and Beatrice Bryant In the ninth James Paul Brewster Edgar Crabtree Charles Dalrymple Bob Larson Billy Lovell Lee Netherton Geraldine Black Beulah Cunningham Doris Cupps Mary Ellen Dick Nelva Hendren Alice Herring Barbara Hutchison Nelda Loftis Nancy McCall Barbara Dannels Freda Robertson Faye Willhite and JoAnn Callis came along to share the success of the freshman class This was the year that freshmen were elected as theFootball Princess and as Band Queen In our sophomore year Eugene Rogers Larry Stone and Charlotte Radford were our new arrivals It was ahighly successful year for it was then that the Teen Age Book Club was organzied by our clan and Doris Cupps was elected Rodeo Queen Although we went down in defeat we received honorable mention our float Good Luck Our Junior year was a successful one We elected as President Lee Netherton Vice President Larry Stone Secretary Karen Cox Treasurer Charlotte Rad ford and Reporter Nancy McCall To the Student Council we elected Doris Cupps and Jim Hodges This was a big year for us for several honors were g1ven to our Juniors for instance Charlotte Radford was chosen FFA Sweetheart and Nancy McCall was the Band Queen Due to excellent supervision by Mrs Jones Mr Crailey and Mr Shackelford our homecoming float with a Happy Birthday Oklahoma theme won first place Another howling success of this year was which we called Starlight ' was one of which both Juniors and seniors were proud Now as seniors, with David Woodson our only new member we are Preparlng to leave Jay High We chose President J1mHeard Vice President Linda Hender son Secretary KarenCox Treasurer Charlotte Radford and Reporter Doris Cupps to lead us through the most importantyear of our high school career With wise leader ship from Mrs Pendergraf Mr Stevens and Mr Kelly we rnanaged to elect all seniors as Student Council officers The FootballQl166I1 Came from the senior class and the honor was given to Nancy McCall Our senior play The Angel of Red Canyon with its all star cast walked off with all honors The Juniors gave us a beautiful prom and marvelous banquet Now we are leaving Jay High forever May the theme we selected W1th suc cess in the past we shall succeed in the future be one that we all remember C We B s N3 F2 K , , , , 1 b 1 Y 1 ' , , , , , Y Q - , - . . 5 .
