RODLICTIO Jimie Wilson has been in the Jay School system for three years. She holds a BS degree and at the present time is teaching English. Kathryn Johnston, Jay's commercial teacher, has been in Jay School four years. She has a B.S. degree- Earl Kelly is the man in the car- pentry shop for Jay School. He has been with us two years and also has a B.S. degree. -s-f Ox il' 1. in Rozelle Pendergraf is completing her first year on the Jay School faculty She has a group of the 3rd and Sth grades. She holds a BA degree. Donald Woodcock, BA degree holder, has been on Jay School's faculty for the past three years. He teaches driver education and social science. Carpathia Reardon resigned during the second semester after having taught here five years. She was second grade teacher. Clark Pell, Jr. is the girls' basketball coach and math. instructor. He has been in the Jay School system five years and holds a EA degree. Ella Ortner, BA and MA degrees, is teaching English and Latin. She has been on the Jay School faculty ten years. Hadley Coats is completing his first year in Jay School. He, too, has e B.S. degree. Mr. Coat is home room teacher for the 7th grade. Myrtle Jordan has been in the Jay School system for five years and at present is teaching 3rd grade. She has a B.A. degree. Ida Pauline Tautfest came to Jay School at the end of the first semester. She has a B.S. degree and is teaching 2nd grade. Wynona Nelson has been one of Jay's teachers for the past three years. She has a group of lst graders. She holds a B.S. degree. John Lee Howe is new at Jay coming at the end of the , f1FSf semester. September 13- first all school party sponsored by the student council. Do you remember how strange it was to see everyone playing the games? September 14- election of officers and the announcement of the following sponsors: Freshmen- Johnston and Bellg Sophomores- Woodcock and Caving Juniors- Cochrane and Stumbaughg Seniors- Wilson and Kelly. September 15- T 8: I Club initiation and that night our first football game! Afton won but we did a good job. September 22- We won our second game of football, remember? We played Vini September 26- Beginning of initiation week for the FHA pledges. So many of them failed to do the assigned things that it wasn't very funny this year. September 30- We won another football game. This time it was Watts. October 1- FHA girls and Mrs. Stumhaugh attend the district rally at Claremore. October 2- Student Council members and Mrs. Ortner go to the home of the Noe1's in Joplin to select the cover for the annual. October L- All school party. Sponsored by the seniors this time. October 7- A football game that ended in a draw. We would have won on penetrations but it wasn't a conference game, remember? We played at Ketchum- a day game. October 10- The band and Mr. Sheldon went to Salina to the parade and festival. October 12- Football scrimmage at Commerce. It was just practice but we won anyway. October 13 Q 14- Holidays! Teachers' meeting at Oklahoma City. Good fishing weather October 21- Football game here with the Sequoyah Redskins. 'Nuff said. October 22- The band went to Tahlequah for their homecoming celebration. We were part of the between halves entertainment. October 26- The football queen race began today without too much excitement but the seniors were out to win. October 28- The day that we finally won a football game from Grove! November 1- FHA girls went to an all-day cooking school at Miami. Yum! November 2- School pictures taken for the annual. November 3- Speech play presented. November L- Another redskin bit the dust for our football squad. This time it was Catoosa's scalp we took. November 8- Junior rings ordered. As usual, no casualties. Seniors ordered caps and gowns, announcements, and diplomas. November 9- School colors changed from red and white to black and gold. Aren't we glad we selected a gold back for our annual? November 16- Football queen announced. We won! Leejean's it! November 17- Homecoming. Alumni association organized. Football game with Quapaw fwe wonj. Queens crowned! All's well that ends welll November 18- Senior Day at Miami. More new romances! November l8-l9- Student Council went to OH for an OIPA conference and the football game with Santa Clara. November 21-22- Marquise photographer here for group pictures for the annual and also for those all-important senior pictures! N November 24-25- Glorious holidays. Thanksgiving with a Capital T! November 28- Award jackets and new black and gold basketball suits ordered. November 30- Football banquet given by the Jay Chamber of Commerce to the boys and their dads. December 1- Basketball here with Grove, remember? December 5- FHA, TGI skating party. More fun! December 6- Boys play basketball at Stillwell. December 7- Kansas came here for three games. December 13- We went to Oaks for basketball games. December 15- We played Salina here! Ohhh!!! December 18- The Glee Club presentes its Christmas Cantata at the Baptist Church. December 20- Basketball games at Colcord. December 22- Pep Club took the football boys on that long-promised skating party. In the snow, too.. December 23- Grade schoo1's Christmas operetta. December 26- One week of feasting and resting begins. Oh, wonderful Christmas! January 2- A new semester, new students, a new schedule, and three DSW teachers- Howe, Tautfest, and Welch. January 2- New basketball suits arrive. How do we look in black? January 4-6- SNOW! NO SCHOOL! And we're sorry this time. January 10- Basketball here with Watts. January ll- Basketball boys and coaches entertained with a dinner at the Home Cafe. January'l2-l4- Girls' Invitational tournament at Grove. We met our nemesis- Salina again. January 17- We played basketball with Grove at Grove. January 19- Basketball here with Colcord. January 20- Student night. Our first attempt but a good one. January 23- Letter jackets arrive. We were so glad to get them early so we could wear them while still in school. January 24- Three basketball games at Kansas. Ohhhhhl 1 1 January 26-28- Boys' invitational tournament at Tahlequah. January 26- Basketball girls and coach entertained with a dinner at the HC Cafe. January 31- Basketball with Oaks here. Our boys won from them for first the time this year. February 2-4- County basketball tournament at Kansas. we claim a record because we came home with three first place trophies- senior high boys, senior high girls, and junior high girls. February 6- Basketball at Kansas. What! Again? February 16- Basketball at Jay- Grove girls vs Jay and Sulphur Springs boys vs Jay. February 20- Went to Watts to return their game. February 23- District tournament at Jay. Boys drew a toughie, Fairland, the first thing but our girls won. March 2-4- Regional basketball tournament at Jay, Vinita, and Bartlesville. We won again and now our girls have three trophies to show. March 9-ll- State basketball tournament at Oklahoma City. We were beaten by Byng. March l6-l7- District Speech Tournament at Tahlequah. Nancy Pollock rated superior on her dramatic reading. March 14- I almost forgot the county fine arts festival but I'll stick it in here. ' April 6- Senior play, The Funny Brats.
