SENIORS ASSIGNMENT TOMORROW Sixty-four little Bulldogs lr- gan their high school careers on August 28, 1944. That first year was indeed our proving gru...tu' Results of our first election were Buddie Blosser, President, Howard Teel, Vice-President, and Norm Washbourne, Secretary. Miss Long and Miss Underwood were our sponsors. Led by Howard Teel, our sophomore completed a vary suc- cessful year. Peggy Ball was vice preS.dent and Patsy Kennedy., secretary. Our sponsors were Mr. Cochrane and Mrs. Halterman. 5 members of our class were in the Honor Society, and others parti- cipated in F.F-A., F- H. A. 4-H Club' athletics, and other activi- ties. Our Junior year found us Bull- dogs much wiser on the ways of dear old J. H. S. That year flew by quickly-whereas the previous two years had crept by. Officers for the year were Howard Teel, Dennis Jackson and Annabelle Chafey, with Mrs. Ortner and Mr Houser as advisors. Ou-r candi- date, Jacqueline Walker, was crowned Carnival Queen, and Howard Teel, Elzie Stephens, J. P. Allen, Wayne Armstrong, Olen Bryant. Everet Dick, Helen Dykes and others began to take regular places on senior high athletic teams- Our major problem was to raise the money to pay- for the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom. The Junior play, The Phantom Bells helped to do this' and we sold eorsages, made cakes, popped corn, and had a concession at a two day rodeo to complete our bank account. The theme of our banquet was Hawaiian, and the orchestra from the Miami Junior Uol.ege was imported for the Prom, which was chaperoned by our Moms and Dads, For gradu- ation night we did the decorating and started to dream of our next and most important year. 1947- an important class were We- high and mighty senior Bulldogs. Howard Teel still reign- ed as our president with Thomas Langford and Juanita Earp filling other positions. Mrs. Ortner and Mr- Houser remained as our ad- visors. Our class was a little un- usual in that we had twenty-seven boys and 18 girls- We had much to be proud of this year: Thomas Langford was president of the Student Council, Jnnita Earp was Uarnival Queen. Six boys and one girl received letter jackets and six of us joined the Honor So- ciety during the past year. Thomas Langford and Bonnie Griffin were among those prea- ent at the state meeting of Stu- dent Councils in Ponca City, and Jackie Walker attended the Nat- ional Youth Conference in Cleve- land, Ohio. We enjoyed the Senior Day at Miami, Senior Privilege Day on April 1, and the Senior Picnic in Tulsa. To raise money for our diplomas, and class gift we gave our play, The Wacky Widow, again sold corsages and cakes and popped corn. Sunday May 16- we attended Baccalaureate Service. We closed the final chapter of our high school career on the night of May eighteenth, nine- teen hundred forty eight, when we received our diplomas with great pride and satisfaction for s job well done.
