Peterson, and ritzgerald and several other capable hoopsters, the Jasperi e looked forward to the cafe season. The first iive consisted of R. 5exton and Seeman.as pivot men, Peterson Anderson, and Haraldson, guards. They played a ver3 eiiectlve double-post offense which could throw a scare into any opponent. Highlights of the season Here: Pipestone Arrows at Jasper when the Quartz siters defeated an age-old rival by two points lynd at Jasper when the ever-powerful lynd team edged out a victory by only one point. TRACK In the spring of l9hY a large number of boys shoaed interest in track. A represfntive team entered the Dakota Relays at Sioux Balls, the District Track Meet at Pipestone, and the Regional Meet at Mankato. In the Dakota Relays, Jasper failed to place, but in the district meet they placed third, with vorthington and Pipestone ahead of them Dick Sexton took iirst in the hhO yard dash, Uonald Kdhlman gained iirst in the ZOO yard low hurdles, william hrickson se ond in the 880 run, Paul Hansen second in the mile, Paul Strobel fo rth in the hlO, the relay team took iourth in the 380 relay On May 22 Coach Lngen took four hovs to Mank to where they earned a total of four points Donald Kuhlman placed fourth in the low hurdles, Paul Hansen fourth in the mile, and Dick Sexton fifth in the LMO yard run S E Z QQTCQY 'i I . . . . . . Jasper twice defeated Cathedral, runner up in the South Dakota state Catholic B. B. tourneyg once by 36 points. Jasper's Sl to 32 win over last year's district champion and regional runner up, Luverne, on Father's Night. In the first round of the Dub-district, Jasper was victor over Beaver Creek for the second time this year. In the championship game Jasper barely eked out a victory over Hills in an overtime period having defeated them by wide margins twice before. lhe final score was 37-35. lhree Jasper cagers made the All Sub-district team, R. Sexton, Peterson, and Seeman. The next aednesday the Jasper quintet met a strong xorthington team in the first round of the district tourney and were dealt a 32-M6 beating. The Quartz-siters ended a very successful season with 13 wins and Y losses. Congratulations go to Coacn Ovcrskei, the man who lead them through this victorious season and to the team who did its best to live up to his expectations.
