With the clanging of hammers and the rustling ot crepe paper, tloats begin to take on an air ot excite- ment. The Hoosierland hysteria has captured the rearts ot J.H.5. stu- dents. ln anticipation of the season, the Junior class sponsored a Pep Rally. The classes and clubs entered floats made ot things ranging tram chicken wire and lcleenex to styra- toam and carnations, The annual affair is hi-lighted by a big bonfire and a sock hop in the gymnasium. Prizes ot SIS, SIO, and S5 were awarded to the Junior, Sophomore, and Freshman classes, respectively. But come Prom time, these same boys make like Arabs folding their tents and silently stealing away. About a week before Prom night the boys finally agree that their opinion of girls is false. Asking girls for Prom dates is the next thing on the agenda. Each mother wants her daughter to be the belle of the ball so she begins rushing in and out of stores and buying accessories for a first formal. Even if the boy forgets to order the corsage, these youngsters haves the time of their lives. Getting the story, writing it, editing it, evaluating it, dummying it to a page, watching it take form on a linotype machine, and finally see- ing it appear in print are the steps of the ace reporters for the school newspaper. The Jasper High School publication, the Comet, is read from cover to cover each time it is published. When a salesman comes into a classroom loaded down with a bundle of Comets, there is a mad scramble for a few minutes, and then one could hear a pin drop. Silence prevails. Everyone likes to know what is going on, and they soon do so by reading another issue of our school paper.
