Mr. Bernard Gallagher, the Superintendent of City Schools, is about to enter the sate in his ottice where many of the school records are kept. OUR ABLE LEADERS THEY WORKED HARD TO IMPROVE OUR SCHOOL The affairs of Jasper High School are administered very capably by Principal Claude Miller and his faculty of twenty-three, Mr. Bernard Gallagher, the Superin- tendent of City Schools, and the three-member School Board, composed of Mr. Claude Gramelspacher, Mr. Casper Elliott, and Mr. O. Leo Beckman. All these agencies work together for the benefit of the student. The faculty makes the direct contact with the student, It is their responsibility to teach. Mr. Miller, as princi- pal, is responsible for teacher's meetings, keeps records, develops and directs student organizations, and gets everyone's schedule organized. He must also supervise extra-classroom programs and take care of the place- ment, transfer, and administration problems of the students. The Superintendent ot Schools is an administrative otticer and, as such, Mr. Gallagher carries out the recornendations of the School Board. The board selects teachers, receives all receipts, approves all expend- itures, prepares an annual report and budget, and provides all articles necessary for the efficient man- agement ot the school. This year the School Board purchased ground for the erection of a new elementary school building in the southwest part ot Jasper. Tempor- ary plans for the building have been made.
