Susie Lechner won the annual I Speak For Democracy contest at Jasper High School and placed third in the county contest. .lane Sermersheim was awarded the D. A. R. Good Citizenship award. Last summer Jane was elected Governor of 1954 Hoosier Girl's State. Kenny Hopf was awarded a trip to the Annual Junior Fact Finding Poultry Conference at Kansas City, Missouri. Kenny also received the Hoosier Farm Degree at Purdue. C. 's annual Cherry Blossom Festival. Over five thousand L., dollars was raised to finance the 7l members who made the five day trip. The team was never ranked lower than tenth in the state the entire year. And when the season did end, the team was rated third. The combination of a good coach- ing staff and a well-balanced team resulted in a successful season with seventeen wins and four losses. Captain Don Bates, a senior guard, broke the Jasper High School scoring record with a total of 1,127 points during his three years on the varsity squad.
