Class History As this school year draws to a close, we, the class of 1961, realize, with a feeling of joy and thankfulness, that we are dignified seniors; but, realizing this, there is a feeling of regret as we look back over the past years. First, we remember ourselves as we entered the doors of Jasper High School as Freshmen with Mr. Myron Harris as our teacher. We enjoyed a beach trip to Morehead during the spring. We added two new members during this year, Billy Collins and Herbert Collins, and lost one, Harvey Koonce. As Sophomores, with Mrs. Mcllwean as our teacher, we enjoyed a weiner roast at Spring Garden Landing. We added one new member to our class this year, Kay Howell, and lost eight, Billy Collins, Betty Grady, Karen Moore, Ann Pugh, Billy Thompson, Treacy Turner, Barbara Wethington, and Howard Wood. During our Junior year, we sponsored a barbecue supper. Mr. Myron Harris was our teacher. We took on the responsi- bility of giving a Junior-Senior banquet which was held in the school cafeteria with the Prom in the gymnasium. We added two new members during this year, Debbie Herring and Billy Joyner, and we lost four members, Elaine Adams, Robert Lee Daly, Kay Howell and Peggy Morton. As Seniors, we are busy working on our vearbook with the capable leadership of our advisor, Mrs. Colvin Joyner. We are eagerly awaiting the activities ahead; our trip to Washington, D.C. , on April fifth, the Junior-Senior Banquet, and finally the thrill of graduation. To everyone who helped us and patiently watched our progress— Thank you. May we live up to your expectations and our own dreams. LOIS MURPHY Historian 24
