MASCOTS DANNY FRENCH DIANE MOORE CLASS HISTORY In September 1954, twenty-seven Freshmen entered the homeroom of Mr. Myron Horris. After nine long months, we outgrew our title little green freshmen , and soon became Sophomores. With the help of our homeroom teacher, Mrs. Gladys Mcllwean, we survived Julius Ceasar along with many other hardships. Our Junior year was spent raising money for the Junior-Senior Banquet. By selling magazine subscriptions, having dances, and selling Christmas cards, we acquired enough money to have a successful banquet with Heaven on Earth as our theme. The banquet was held in the school cafe- teria and the dance in the gymnasium. In May of our Junior year, we took a picnic lunch to Atlantic Beach and spent the day. Now, as our Senior year is drawing to a close, we find that our class has dwindled down to the small number of sixteen. We are eagerly awaiting the activities ahead. There will be the Junior- Senior Banquet in May, and finally the thrill of graduation. Our last year has been full of fun as well as work. With the capable leadership of our advisor, Mrs. Colvin Joyner, we have worked diligently to get the 1958 J-HI-NIKE published. LAST WILL and TESTAMENT We, The Senior Class of 1958, being aware of our very short time as students here at Jasper High School, think itwise to make our last will and rid ourselvesof all personal properties that we have collected in the past four years. We, The Senior Class, being supposedly sound in mind and in body, do hereby bequeath to the following persons these articles: ARTICLE I To our Alma Mater we leave our sincere loyalty and admiration. ARTICLE II To the Juniors we leave our Senior privileges in hopes they will succeed in finding them. ARTICLE III To the Sophomores and the Freshmen we leave a long, and difficult road to graduation, with the hope they all make it. ARTICLE IV We bequeath to the following individuals: I, Martha Davis, leave my quiet manner and neatness to Carolyn Murphy. I, Daphne Civils McCoy, leave my ability to get married, graduate and have a family to Alice Faye Howell. I, Edward Earl Moore, leave my abil ity to be bashful yet make the girls cry to Johnny Kilpatrick. I, Walter Register, leave my ability to always find cute little blonds and keep it a secret to Bruce Carawon. I, Scarlette Morton, leave my sunny smile and friendly ways to Nancy Register. I, Wade Case, leave my ability to type 60 words a minute to James Civils. I, Billy Duncan, leave my title of Most Intelligent Boy to Rodney Sutton. I, Pat White, leave my ability to Rob the Cradle to Ann Cox. I, Bobby Vincent, leave my easy-going manner and ability to get along with people to L. C. Conway. I, Mike Russell, leave my determination to graduate to Billy Broadway. I, Amos Parker, leave my ability to take Bookkeeping and sleep during Exam to any boy who thinks he con do it. I, Laurie Dean Daly, leave my love for Jazz Music and those cute Marines to Effie Russell. I, Elizabeth Richardson, leave my red hair and freckles to Buddy Harris. I, Robert Hopewell, leave all the pretty brunettes whose heart I didn't break to Robert Calhoun. I, Eby French, leave all the girls except one to Ronnie Hodnett. I, Linda Wilson, leave my naturally curly hair and title Sweaters to Johnnie Mae Daly. Be it known that this document is signed, sealed and delivered this twenty-sixth day of March, nineteen hundred and fifty-eight by: LINDA WILSON In Witness Hereof: JOHN W. HAMILTON MRS. J. W. JOYNER We the Seniors of 1958 who have worked hard toward the publication of this annual, wish to extend our appreciation to each individual, group or firm who has contributed either financially or personallyto it. We feel that this year's J-HI-NIKE is quite on accomplishment for us, and we hope you will like it. CLASS PROPHECY As I was flying back from New York on the Pan American Airlines in the year of 1965, where I had been on a scouting tour for basketball players, I saw several familiar faces. By the way, I am Billy Duncan, head coach at the Un i vers i ty of North Carolina. When I was assigned to my seat, learned that I was sitting beside Elizabeth Richardson. She was returning from a concertat Carnegie Hall in Philadelphia. I heard a shrill voice come from the front of the plane which said, Fasten your seat belts, please, and looked up and saw that it was an old classmate from Jasper, Laurie Dean Daley who had been working for Pan American for three years. Laurie Dean told us that several days before, Robert Hopewell and his wife flew to Miami on a ten day honeymoon. The co-pilot came to the back of the plane to announce the next stopwould be in Washington, D.C. His voice sounded familiar to us and we were notsurprised to see that it was Wade Case. We landed at the Vincent-Register Airport and learned it was one of the largest in Washington. While talking to Wade before takeoff, I learned that Amos Parker now owned a Hotel in Miami Beach. He also told me that Edward Earl Moore and Margaret Smith had finally said I do. He said that Eby French and Linda Wilson were married. As I went to buy my ticket I ran into Pat White who was enroute to New York for her Professional model debut. She told me that Scarlette Morton was a nurse at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bern. She also told me that Martha Anne Dovis was now play- ing in Barbara Hutton's all girl orchestra. She said that Mike Russell and Lou Alma Rice were now morried and living in Ft. Barnwell. It made me very happy to meet and talk about all of my old classmates and their success in their careers.
