GREETINGS TO THE SENIOR CLASS OF 1957 You are now standing on the threshold that leads to doors of greater opportunities. You may go in, like a courageous Joshua of old, and possess the Promised Land or you may continue to stand, undecided and afraid, until those doors are closed forever. Others have made available the opportunities for you, but you alone can seize and capitalize them. Success will never come to the one whose courage fails. Already you, no doubt, have learned that the end of education is something more than mere scholar- ship; it is scholarship plus, and that plus is character. In your future there will be just as much need for the cultivated heart as there will be for the trained mind; it takes a combination of the two character- istics to round out a full and useful life. Your life will be a success or failure, measured by the con- tributions it makes to society for the space and time occupied by it. I am trusting (and even betting) that you and each of you will justify every worth-while confidence the society of your day may repose in you. To that end I congratulate you in advance. Sincerely, John W. Hamilton, Principal
