As Old Jasper Hi began a new semester in the fall of '51, we were ready to be recognized as freshmen. Mr. Myron Harris, basketball coach, was our teacher. The class enroll- ment was twenty. Charles Daly and Lola Dawson entered our class during our sophomore year. At the half we lost Harold Johnson and James Hare. Mrs. McDwean, our teacher, accompanied us on a trip enjoyed by all to Swansboro. Near the end of the year a classmate, Charles Daly, took leave. Some of us had the privilege of attending the Junior-Senior Banquet. As juniors we took on the responsibility of the Junior- Senior Banquet. The Banquet was held in our new lunchroom with the dance at the Woman's Club in New Bern. During the year we lost three of our students, Jimmy Howell, Kenneth Daly, and Eva Riggs Smith. Mrs. Duncan our teacher helped with our Junior play. What senior would forget the grand time that was had while giving the play, The Funny Brats, ” which was a success. This being our senior year we eagerly look forward to our Junior-Senior Banquet and the long-awaited Commencement. The sixteen of us that are left have been industriously work- ing on our annual and hope it will be a success because of the wonderful help of our advisor, Mrs. D. T. Ainsworth. We have planned a trip to East Carolina in Greenville in April in order to get a touch of college life and to see what it has to offer us. Historian
