0tcU4. 'PxafiAeccf Route 2, New Bern, N.C. May 29, 1973 Dear Margaret, This being the twentieth year since our graduation night in 1953, I thought of our promise to write and tell each other all the news we had managed to collect about our classmates. After you have finished reading my letter you’ll agree with me that anything can happen. Do you remember our one and only wife, Kenney Rowers? Well, she decided that children were cheaper by the dozen” and now has the unlucky number of 13. Claudette Ipock was unable to finish her elaborate trousseau, which she started our Freshman year in high school. She managed to nab Charles without the trousseau. They are now living in a four story man- sion outside Washington, D. C. Professor Roger Howell has really made a hit with all the girls at the University of California. Wonder if it's Prof. Howell or the swanky Cadillac he sports that they’re chasing? As you might have heard, Jackie Ipock was married to a millionaire shortly after she left high school. Well, she soon got tired of him and divorced him. Now she is the most vivacious young divorcee in New York. Sweet and innocent Mary Eva Hardison has become the editor of a magazine called Advice to the Lovesick. We always thought dear little Eva would become a TV star but instead lovely brown-eyed Margaret Slaughter has attained the fame of TV star. Today I read in the News and Observer an editorial telling of General Charles Register’s flight from Guatemala Air Base to the historic city of New Bern, N.C., his former home town, to deliver an oration at the dedication of the newly restored Tryon Palace. Nonie Atkinson, our B. B. (bird brain) of the class, whom we all thought would force Mrs. Mcllwean to retire from her position as English Teacher at Jasper, turned out to do just opposite. She is now a Barbizon Model in Philadelphia, Pa. Our most settled classmate, Catherine Register, is still a Miss. Finally her manager has promoted her to head typist at Macey’s Department Store in New York. Joseph Banks was at the court house yesterday making a campaign speech since he is running for President of the U. S. this year. I went to the Hot Rod Races in Wilson, N.C. last Sunday and who should I see but our class tom- boy Peggy McCosley driving racer no. 11. Luckily she has won 10 out of 12 races. We used to think that Johnnie Simpson was going to make our school bus leave the ground. His efforts have finally succeeded. (Fortunately in an airplane.) Sara Fae Hart is still at Sneads Ferry Restaruant although she has been promoted from waitress to assistant manager. At last Fae has her Cpl. Leon Wetherington, as always, is working hard at his favorite occupation--sleeping and doing nothing. Here's hoping he won't starve! The other day I received a phone call but could hardly tell it was Priscilla Ipock because of all the mumbling and screaming of her triplets. They say her husband has almost deserted her, due to the noise and discomfort of their brood. And Margaret, I guess you have already run the Carter Tisdales out of the florist business. I under- stand you own the largest Florist in the United States. Have you lost any of those extra pounds? Well, as for me. I’m still Mr. Hamilton’s office girl. You recall he always needed someone to supervise office details. That's all of us, Margaret. I shall look forward to your promised letter. Always with love, Katherine
