We, the Senior Class, claiming to be of sound mind and body, do hereby make and publish this last will and testament. Article I To our beloved school we leave our sincere loyalty and admiration. Article II To the Juniors we leave whatever Senior privileges that are avilable next year (if any). Article III To the Sophomores we leave all the luck and happiness that we could separate from our trials and temptations. Article IV To the Freshmen we leave a four years' long, and difficult road to graduation, with the hope that they all make it. Article V We bequeath to the following individuals: I, Margaret Nadine Cook, leave some of my pounds to the skinniest girl in the Junior Class, I won't say who. I, Mary Eva Hardison, will my basketball suit No. 11 to the person who can fill my place as guard with the Jasper Jets. I, Joseph Banks, leave the taps on my shoes to Frank McDaniel, hoping that he won't make any more noise with them than 1 did. I, Katherine Mae Ewell, will my nickname, Slim Jim to Helen Marshburn; I think it suits her, also 1 leave my bubble-gum in Mrs. Joyner's waste can for her to throw out after school. I, Corinne Flowers, leave--hoping that all the future Seniors marry after they graduate. I, Sara Fae Hart, leave my giggles and cute ways to Betty Rouse. I, Leon Wetherington, leave my reputation as a truthful boy to anyone who can sound that truthful. 1, Jacqueline lpock, will my beauty to Clara Ipock, (that is, after I finish at E. C.C.) I won't need it teaching school. I. Frances Claudette lpock, leave my torn, worn, and ragged basketball shoes to Caroline Ipock. 1, John Simpson, leave my sincere efforts to pass my work without ever doing any to the next person who dares try it. I, Annie Catherine Register, leave my outstanding work in French to FrenchClass I, hoping they can do better than I did. I, Priscilla Lammeter Ipock, leave my worries over a Charles to Joan DeBruhl. I, Charles Nathaniel Register, leave my ability to mock the Joe-Banks-Walk, believ- ing that no one else can imitate it. I, Peggy Jean McCosley, will my ability to pester everybody to whoever can get by with it. I, Margaret Gray Slaughter, will my ability to keep my own secrets to Frances At- kinson; only Frances will know what I mean. I, Roger Howell, leave my quiet ways to both the Franks, McDaniel and Hosteller, in the Junior Class. I, Nonie Atkinson, would leave my old geometry note booksto anyone wanting them, but I need to study them some more myself. s'8ne“ Yh Nonie Atkinson Most Athletic MARY EVA HARDISON-JOSEPH BANKS Best Looking JACKIE IPOCK-JOHNNIE SIMPSON Neatest MARY EVA HARDISON-JOHNNIE SIMPSON Most Studious NONIE ATKINSON-ROGER HOWELL Most Likely to Succeed Most Independent PRISCILLA IPOCK-ROGER HOWELL MARY EVA HARDISON-LEON WETHERINGTON 0tcU4. 'PxafiAeccf Route 2, New Bern, N.C. May 29, 1973 Dear Margaret, This being the twentieth year since our graduation night in 1953, I thought of our promise to write and tell each other all the news we had managed to collect about our classmates. After you have finished reading my letter you’ll agree with me that anything can happen. Do you remember our one and only wife, Kenney Rowers? Well, she decided that children were cheaper by the dozen” and now has the unlucky number of 13. Claudette Ipock was unable to finish her elaborate trousseau, which she started our Freshman year in high school. She managed to nab Charles without the trousseau. They are now living in a four story man- sion outside Washington, D. C. Professor Roger Howell has really made a hit with all the girls at the University of California. Wonder if it's Prof. Howell or the swanky Cadillac he sports that they’re chasing? As you might have heard, Jackie Ipock was married to a millionaire shortly after she left high school. Well, she soon got tired of him and divorced him. Now she is the most vivacious young divorcee in New York. Sweet and innocent Mary Eva Hardison has become the editor of a magazine called Advice to the Lovesick. We always thought dear little Eva would become a TV star but instead lovely brown-eyed Margaret Slaughter has attained the fame of TV star. Today I read in the News and Observer an editorial telling of General Charles Register’s flight from Guatemala Air Base to the historic city of New Bern, N.C., his former home town, to deliver an oration at the dedication of the newly restored Tryon Palace. Nonie Atkinson, our B. B. (bird brain) of the class, whom we all thought would force Mrs. Mcllwean to retire from her position as English Teacher at Jasper, turned out to do just opposite. She is now a Barbizon Model in Philadelphia, Pa. Our most settled classmate, Catherine Register, is still a Miss. Finally her manager has promoted her to head typist at Macey’s Department Store in New York. Joseph Banks was at the court house yesterday making a campaign speech since he is running for President of the U. S. this year. I went to the Hot Rod Races in Wilson, N.C. last Sunday and who should I see but our class tom- boy Peggy McCosley driving racer no. 11. Luckily she has won 10 out of 12 races. We used to think that Johnnie Simpson was going to make our school bus leave the ground. His efforts have finally succeeded. (Fortunately in an airplane.) Sara Fae Hart is still at Sneads Ferry Restaruant although she has been promoted from waitress to assistant manager. At last Fae has her Cpl. Leon Wetherington, as always, is working hard at his favorite occupation--sleeping and doing nothing. Here's hoping he won't starve! The other day I received a phone call but could hardly tell it was Priscilla Ipock because of all the mumbling and screaming of her triplets. They say her husband has almost deserted her, due to the noise and discomfort of their brood. And Margaret, I guess you have already run the Carter Tisdales out of the florist business. I under- stand you own the largest Florist in the United States. Have you lost any of those extra pounds? Well, as for me. I’m still Mr. Hamilton’s office girl. You recall he always needed someone to supervise office details. That's all of us, Margaret. I shall look forward to your promised letter. Always with love, Katherine Sent n As Old Jasper Hi opened its doors in the fall of '48, in walked a troop of students ready to be recognized as Freshmen. Mr. Luther W. Hardee was our unfortunate teacher of twenty-one students. Since chang- ing classes was new to us, we were very eager and excited our first year in high school. Our trip during the Freshman year was a weiner roast at Flanners Beach. During our Sophomore year, Carlton Davis, Earl Mcllwean, Walter Stewart, Charlotte Hosteller and Nellie French left us. Mrs. Mcllwean, our teacher, accompanied us on a beach party. We were very interested in our new music classes conducted by Mr. Snornick, and many of us participated in them. In our Junior year, we took on the big responsibility of giving a Junior-Senior Banquet at the Country Club. We gave a three act play Here Comes Charlie. At the first of the year, we welcomed a new class member, Peggy McCosley and lost Frank McDaniel, Wiley Moore and Beatrice Cox. This being our Senior year, we are eagerly looking forward to our Junior-Senior Banquet and the long awaited Commencement.
