Dedication Mrs. Shirley Hall Miss Kathleen Grogan Dear Mrs. Hall, This year it was voted unanimously to dedicate the 1982 version of the Golden Glimpses to you, because without your patience and assistance, publishing this yearbook would not have been possible. As our advisor, you guided us through one ofthe busiest of our high school years. We thank you, Mrs. Hall, and hope your future classes will give you all the respect and cooperation that you so richly deserve. With love, The Class of 1982 ju With this dedication goes our deepest gratitude and admiration to a teacher who, in the past three years has not only given us knowledge and guidance for our future, but has also been a true friend. At this time The Class of '82 would like to extend its thanks for all of the enjoyable activities that were made possible because of you, the Senior Play, Drama Club, and field trips to name a few. With sincere appreciation and due respect, we dedicate the 1982 version of the Golden Glimpses to Miss Kathleen Grogan. With love, The Class of 1982 dms,j1l, eap Class History The Class of 1982 began its school career back in 1969 with Bill Brewer, Shaun Dennis, Charles DeVore, Ricky Dunn, Jim Hosmer, Brent Irvine, James Jackson, Jimmy Parsons, Mark Prutsman, Bill Space, Mark Stewart, Roger Williams, Karen Baker, Yvette Davis, Yvonne Davis, Joni Friends, Ardis Kelley, Joanna Lewis, Michelle Ball, Bonita Murphy, Tammy Price, Bonnie Sherwood, Molly Russell, Pam Stephens, Joan Stuart, Darlene Sutton, Julie Waight, and Katrina Walker. Since then, we have lost a few classmates, but gained many more: Ed Petras, Carla Morseman, Gerry and Jerry Reynolds, Rick Taft, Connie Taft, Chris Button, Sue Spicer, Laurie Whritenour and Jane Squire. In seventh grade, we started out junior high as very lost individuals: stacks of books, crowded halls and the confusion of pink, yellow and white passes. In the eighth grade the major event was the eighth grade speaking contest. Brent and Darlene placed first, Ed and Jo- anna took second and Ardis came in third. Brent took second place in the Campbell county contest. The eighth grade also had their annual Book Fair and we all enjoyed our first money making activity. Upon graduating from eighth grade, there were 29 members of the Class of 1982. Joanna was our valedictorian and Shaun was the salutatorian. Brent won the history award, Bill S. and Darlene won the Good Citizenship Award. In our freshman year, we began the wonder of high school. Activities such as the car wash and bake sale provided not only profit but much fun. As sophomores, we proudly sponsored our first dance and roller skating party. Our academic studies continued and we learned more each day. Our teachers became not only figures of authority and knowledge worthy of our respect, but also true friends. While in the junior class, we continued with our money making projects: a dance, a roller skating party, and the magazine sales. Chris received a six foot tall banana and a radio for selling the most subscriptions. In October, we received our class rings, we will never forget the thrill of that day or our disappointment when they did not fit! Our senior year has been extremely busy. In the fall we presented our senior play, WHO DUNIT?, which all participants thoroughly enjoyed. We also had our annual dance and roller skating party. The class also journeyed to Elmira to see the play, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, and then went out to dinner. Class officers were elected and Jim Hosmer was chosen to be President, Joni - Vice-President, Darlene - Secretary, and Ed - Treasurer. The major activity of the year was the publishing ofthe yearbook. Brent and Joanna were chosen as co-editors, yet the cooperation of the entire class made the book possible. Throughout thirteen years at J.C.S. the class of '82 has grown very close and we have enjoyed our school days together. It seems hard to believe, but graduation, a goal for which we have diligently worked, will soon be upon us. Fol- lowing this, we must each go our separate ways. However, J.C.S. and its many memories will always remain a part of us. - dms, jll, bli 3 Class of 1982 May our yesterdays light the way to tomorrow 4 4' E 552-liswi f5Q1.g,ixL.f iw K W-r xiw ,Vx -ilgftgf N f fgfw X K 3 cvrfiffr-wwf . 14: limb ff g vkviewla? f 'Qifyjiwllhla fi? Clara and Beverly are two people to whom we could never fully express our appreciation. We, the Class of '82 sincerely hope that you both realize how much your care means to us. Beverly, we thank you, not only for the work you do in the office to help us, but also for sacrificing so much of your time to help with the band, cheerleaders 8: many other activities. Clara, we thank you for helping our class handle and properly take care of the money earned in the past few years. Also, your kind words and smile are greatly appreciated. Not only did you start our education, but you also taught us those special things -like sharing, manners and proper behavior. Many of us recall being quite frightened that first day of Kindergarten, yet you made school something to look forward to. For this we thank you, but most of all, we are grateful to you for making a great impression on our lives. With love, The Class of 1982 Dear Miss Schwartz, This year's Senior Class wishes to extend their thanks to you H Miss Schwartz. Not only were you a teacher from whom we learned so much, but you were a friend who was there at all times. Your smile and encouraging words have been missed in recent years. Thank you for being such a warm, friendly, courageous individual. You have set an example for all of us. With love, The Class of 1982 Dear Mrs. Lewis, The Class of 1982 would like you to know of our mixed emotions about your retirement. We join you in the happiness of reaching the goal of retirement, yet everyone will miss you. As a teacher you have contributed so much to our school. We would like to extend our sin- cere thanks for all of the ways in which you have given of yourself. Thank you and best of luck always. With love, The Class of 1982 Dedication to the Elementary Teachers The Class of 1982 would like to extend its deep appreciation to those special people who started us out on our educational journey W our elementary teachers. We learned a great deal from each teacher whether it was basic math, reading, writing or simply right from wrong. The following are a few of the many memories we have of our elementary days: Mr. McClaren,s 5th grade Civics Club, the 6th grade Medieval Guild, Christmas toy day, Niagara Falls and parties celebrating every holiday. Mrs. Lyons - do you remember how grossed out you were when Shaun threw up in reading class? Mrs. Yarnell e remember our live fish pond and the day that pond with all its fish, salamanders and crabs got dumped! Ofcourse we could never forget lst grade when many of us found ourselves standing in the corner! Miss Lewis - do you remember the play we produced - Murdock's Raft ? These are only a few of the numerous beautiful remembrances the Class of E 982 has of their elementary school days. We feel that dedicating a portion of the Golden Glimpses is the least we can do for you - our elementary teachers. Yet we could never thank you enough. There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed, I am now at peace forever, Safely home in Heaven at last. Did you wonder how I so calmly Trod the valley of the shade? Oh! but Jesus' love illumined Every dark and fearful glade. And He came Himself to meet me In that way so hard to tread, And with Jesus' arm to lean on, Could I have one doubt or dread? Then you must not grieve so sorely For I love you dearly still: Try to look beyond earth's shadows, Pray to trust our Father,s Will, There is work still waiting for you, So you must not idly stand, Do it now while life remaineth - You shall rest in Jesus' land. When that work is all completed, He will gently call you Home, Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come!
