It's the kind of ioy that fills your heart to overflowing when you know you've made the right decision, and you know you've given something to someone who really deserves it. Everyone today has something to say, but there are few like you who are so willing to listen. By your compassion, understanding and patience, you have made our Place in the Sun iust a little brighter and alittle warmer. Although this kind of giving can not be measured, or equalled, we want you to realize that you have touched our lives and that you are one person whom we will always remember with a smile and a bit of longing. Now, to you we dedicate this edition of Golden Glimpses , and more importantly, our lasting friendship. When you find your Place in the Sun , we hope and pray that it will last eternally. ln all warmth and sincerity, The Class of '72 v Mrs Clara Brownell Mrs. Beverly Lewis Dear Students, The sun, the center of the universe, that about which all other planets revolve is the life, light and warmth of the earth. ln human terms, cer- tainly, the sun is that without which there is no other. For teachers, students are the center of the universe. If a student re- flects happiness in a learning experience, his teacher is happy. lf a stu- dent can say, I see, I understand, l love, his seeing, his under- standing, his loving are shone warmly on his teacher. Likewise, if a student says, l will not see, l enjoy my ignorance, I hate, then the darkness of his despair throws out its blackness to engulf his teacher, too. Nothing that a student does can happen without in some way af- fecting his teacher. Our whole life revolves about you, for students are a teacher's place in the sun. A Place in the Sun for our school staff is probably the idea and satisfaction of doing something for others. Somehow the easiest way to warm our hearts and lives is to warm the hearts and lives of those around us. That human element, which the cafeteria staff, bus drivers, custodians, and aids add, not only makes J. C. S. A Place in the Sun for them, but for us also. Front Row-D. Garrison, E. Babcock, F. Pearl, K. Calkins, C. Button, G. Burton Dear Teacher, Big Kids, and Parents, Our Place in the Sun is right here at J. C. S. mainly because of our friends and school activities. Things we like, such as gym, mu- sic, films, and occasional parties, are always mixed with work. We like to know everyone we meet in the hall, and that's what makes us like a small school. Other people at J. C. S. seem to be so busy hurrying and being involved that they have no time to enjoy their school life, which is most important to us. Someday, we suppose, our idea of A Place in the Sun will change, but for now we're happy with our youth, and will keep on reaching for the happiness and ioy of friends, teachers, and learn- ing, which seem so real and sufficient for us today. Father Vogt Dear Friends, Our junior high school years are so full of homework, class pro- iects, and field trips, that few of us have time to develop dreams in our lives. As we enter senior high, more of us begin creating dreams, which are realized as we grow and change. Sometimes they seem far away and so impossible to attain, that we can get very dis- couraged. It is hard to keep going, but then we see others who have fulfilled their dreams and we are given new strength to carry on. THAT'S LIFE!-a constant search for our Place in the Sun. With all of these responsibilities, it is sometimes felt that we can't devote sufficient time to our studies. On the contrary, from these activities we learn more about how to live and to get along with those oround us than we do from our studies. The opportunities and the challenges which we've met beyond the scope of classroom situations have broadened our personalities and have become a major part of our school life. 28 THIS YEARBGOK WAS PRODUCED BY: I-UYOUJ Editors Editors and Advisor MUVY SWUV1 Kathy Garrison Onalee Owen Mary McCaig Mrs. Cheesman J one -Ji Photography Editors Aff Editors Storm Cilley Carol Drake Rick Andrews Karen Dennis Lorraine Drake Business Managers Advertising Managers Janet Van Skiver Ai Drake Darlene Brewer Jerry Armbruster Dan Whitehead Literary Editors LuAnne Lewis Susan Button Typing Editors Kathy McCaig Sue Marlatt Sales Managers Janice Van Skiver Pat Johnson 29 X YEARBOOK STAFF Seniors: K. S., This has been a year of endings for us. With every day, every event, and every challenge, we've realized that this is the last year we can physically be a part of J. C. S. All through school we've dreamed about what we would do when we graduated, whether it be college, marriage, the service, or a iob. Therefore, we are happy and excited about living a new kind of life, but we've also found that dreams are even more unbelieveable when they are about to come true. Leaving J.C.S. is something we talk about, but can't really imagine. We leave with deep sentiment for our school, our friends, and the only way of life we've known so far. We thank you all for the part you've played in our lives and for the many memories which will be with us no matter where we go. You have our best wishes and our reluctant goodbyes.
