Class Prophecy Graduation night! The greatest night in the lives of the senior class of ’51 of Jarratt High School! While I was dressing for the Commencement Exercises, a feeling of sadness passed over me at the thought of our parting friends, the Seniors of °51. But, as I began to look into the future my melancholy faded away. Into my line of vision trooped the Seniors one by one. The first person I saw was Betty Williams, playing the leading role in the drama, THE HOUSE OF KIT- CHENS. Following her I saw a girl of nineteen, Yes, it must be Christine, who had become very interested in raising pairs. The scene then changed to a brillantly lighted gymnasium in which I saw Barbara Carter as the star forward of a leading basketball team. Suddenly, I heard the honking of a car horn and as I looked up there before me was a green Ford in which I visualized two, no, three’ people. There sat Dickie and Salome Dunn and ‘‘Father’s Little Dividend’’! After this scene had passed I saw Colleen Daniels busily reading poetry in the State Forensic Contest. As the time passed, I saw Cola Bradley hurrying by ona °37 Ford to assist Mr. Owen in surveying land. Suddenly I heard the stamping of feet and the blowing of a harmo nica and you need no other description to recognize ‘‘Sack’’ Richardson. The next person to come in view was a tall, thin boy, Robert Myrick. He had a bicycle loaded with THE RICHMOND TIMES DISPATCH newspapers and he was looking despairingly at two flat tires. Down the road came a green streak of lightning (which really was a green '51 Kaiser) with none other than Bobbie Mitchell at the wheel. He must be home on furlough as he wore a soldier’s uniform. I heard the sound of a band marching down the street. Leading the band were charming majorettes, with Billy Starke following close behind. After the band had passed, I saw a dark, curly headed boy, our good friend, Dudley Harrell. He was discussing the possibilities of enlarging the big city of Grizzand. I realized with a start that it was time to leave for Commencement Exercises. Now I felt happy rather than sad. We would miss the Class of ’51, but now I knew they had a bright future ahead of them and that they would be happy. Betty Lou Jenkins
