The greatest night in the lives of the senior class of ’51 of Jarratt High School! While I was dressing for the Commencement Exercises, a feeling of sadness passed over me at the thought of our parting friends, the Seniors of °51. But, as I began to look into the future my melancholy faded away. Into my line of vision trooped the Seniors one by one. The first person I saw was Betty Williams, playing the leading role in the drama, THE HOUSE OF KIT- CHENS. Following her I saw a girl of nineteen, Yes, it must be Christine, who had become very interested in raising pairs. The scene then changed to a brillantly lighted gymnasium in which I saw Barbara Carter as the star forward of a leading basketball team. Suddenly, I heard the honking of a car horn and as I looked up there before me was a green Ford in which I visualized two, no, three’ people. There sat Dickie and Salome Dunn and ‘‘Father’s Little Dividend’’! After this scene had passed I saw Colleen Daniels busily reading poetry in the State Forensic Contest. As the time passed, I saw Cola Bradley hurrying by ona °37 Ford to assist Mr. Owen in surveying land. Suddenly I heard the stamping of feet and the blowing of a harmo nica and you need no other description to recognize ‘‘Sack’’ Richardson. The next person to come in view was a tall, thin boy, Robert Myrick. He had a bicycle loaded with THE RICHMOND TIMES DISPATCH newspapers and he was looking despairingly at two flat tires. Down the road came a green streak of lightning (which really was a green '51 Kaiser) with none other than Bobbie Mitchell at the wheel. He must be home on furlough as he wore a soldier’s uniform. I heard the sound of a band marching down the street. Leading the band were charming majorettes, with Billy Starke following close behind. After the band had passed, I saw a dark, curly headed boy, our good friend, Dudley Harrell. He was discussing the possibilities of enlarging the big city of Grizzand. I realized with a start that it was time to leave for Commencement Exercises. Now I felt happy rather than sad. We would miss the Class of ’51, but now I knew they had a bright future ahead of them and that they would be happy. Betty Lou Jenkins Last Will and Cestament We, the Seniors of the Class of 1951, being in an humorous state of mind a nd sound body do hereby will and bequeath to the class of 1952 and the faculty the follow- ing articles: To Betty Lou we leave cooking utensils to outfit the ‘‘Kitchen’’ in her new dream home. To Anne we leave a standing invitation to visit Betty Lou’s home where there will always be an extra ‘‘Kitchen”’. To Ruth Leigh we leave a recording of the song, ‘‘I NEVER SEE JIMMY ALONE”’. To Rosalind, we bequeath a Royal typewriter. To Goldie we leave our extra credits so she can play soft-ball next year. To Pauline we leave a year’s supply of dance tickets and an escort to all the square dances. To David we leave a year’s supply of dance tickets also, just in case Pauline loses hers. To Edward we leave a walking cane and a bottle of Sloan’s Liniment for Joanne to rub his back each night. To Prince we leave Dudley’s baseball uniform with a built-in heating system. To Jean Simmons we leave a well-paying cafeteria with a joiner to assist. To Doris, an ‘‘Elbow’’ pipe to keep her stove percolating during the cold winter nights. To Billy we leave Bob Lemon’s latest book on the art of pitching. To George we leave a remedy for shyness and a dozen girl friends. To Mrs. Garner we leave our very best wishes for success and happiness in her new teaching position. To Mrs. Brown we leave enthusiastic pupils who will have every lesson prepared. To Mrs. Burruss we leave a very competent assistant Librarian in the form of one Rosalia Janski. To Mr. Owen we leave an up-to-date Laboratory and all the ball equipment the teams will need. To Mr. Kessler we leave a sound proof music room so Mr. Owen can have his room again, To Mrs. Lindamood we leave a new piano and a full supply of music. To Mr. Burruss we leave our love, esteem and best wishes for his health and happiness.
