Class Hlstory In September,l9H7, forty three pupils entered the Seventh grade from Lightburn, Berlin and Jane Lew grades to begin their high school career For our officers we chose atricia Hitt, President Phyllis Woofter, Vice President Mary Sue Johnson, Secretary Billy Lang, Treasurer and Shirley Foster, Reporter Our class colors, were black and white and our motto HThink More and Talk Less H Our Class Advisor was Mr Denver Barnett The next year we lost thirteen of our pupils Bobby Joe Linger Billy Lang, Leland Freeman Johnny Morrison, Iris Simons, Mary Sue Johnson, Ruby Me ton, Dorothy McClung, Kenne h Foster Jerry parker, James Garton, Franklin Simons, and Bobby Lane We gained three new pup ls Joe Wilfong, Harley Woodson, and Elizabeth Ann Dye Our officers this year were Darroll Courtney President Paul Williams, VicePres1dent Phyllis Woofter, Secretary and John Atk ns, Treasurer This year we adopted M Barnett's Slogann as our class motto H at You Are To Be, You Are Now Becomingn when we entered our Freshman year we saw that Joe Wilfong was missing and that, we had ive new students Shirley McCoy, Mary Polan Lynn Bancroft Jackie Allman and Lon kinner This year Shirley Foster was President Ralph Wr ght, Vice Presi dent, Darroll Courtney Secretary Phyllis Woofter,Treasurer and Kenneth Foster, re porter The high lights of this year were the school carnival and class tgurnament When our Sopohmore year began we were minus seven pupils These were Jackie Dobbins, Lynn Bancroft Harley Woodson, Lon Skinner, Shirley Bargerhuff, Carol Sue Morrison and Ralph Wright Our officers were Howard Mitchell, President Vonda Mc Cray, V ce President Margie Cayton, Secretary John Atkins Treasurer Kenneth Cof wh ch we wonh and May Day We gained one new member, Wilodene Dobbins, Irom Unidis In our Junior year there were twenty eight members at the beginning of school but we lost Paul Williams Joe Messenger, Shirley McCoy and Phyllis Woofter early in the school year In addition we had two members of the previous year not returning These were Lucille Hicks and Kenneth Foster This year Barbara Potts joined our class Margaret Courtney was elected as Queen Elizabeth IV Other high lights were the Junior and Senior Banquet which was very successful and the presentation of our lass play 'Clean Sweep Rings and pictures were ordered this year The Junior, girls won the class tOurnamen1 Shirley Foster was Elected President Betty Hinzman Vice President Mary Morrison, Secretary and John Atkins, Treasurer In our Senior year we were happy to have Mr Barnett as our SPO! 0 for the 6th consecutive year of our school ainir N elected Barbara Potts, as President, Mary Polan, Vice President, secretary, and Rondall Spaur as Treasurer The main events of this year were as fol ows Carnival, in which Shirley Foster was elected Queen Elizabeth V Christmas Program, basketball and football games public ation of the HLew1slteH and Lewisite Memoriesn Commencment and the Baccalaureate Sermon As we bid adueu to Jane Lew High School, we extend best wishes to our lower classmates and sincerely hope that the coming years will bring to them the pleasant associations which we have enjoyed iv g ' : .
