CLASS HISTORY On August 22, l9L9, approximately O small frys left home on their way to high school Yes, that year we were green freshmen Our first year we found ourselves with a fear of being late to class or having to go to the office We choose as our king and queen, Kate Grider and Teddy York, and they were crowned King and Queen of the Halloween Carnival We went to Mammoth Cave on our class trip Upon entering the tenth grade we began to court And, found ourselves interested in activities going on about us We thought we were really smart because we were no longer 'green freshmenu but, 'silly sophomor s We looked forward to going on our class trip, a tour of Kentucky We went to the asylum at Danville, La Grange Reformatory, a museum in Louisville, and other places Our third year we were jolly juniorsn and were proud of it Although some of our classmates had dropped out, there were still about 30 in our class Mr Lacy and Miss Marshall were our class sponsors Everyone had fun out of Mr Lacy, especially the boys We are proud to say that our king and queen, Joyce Marcum and Claude Tate, were crowned as King and Queen of the Halloween Carnival We sold about S600 worth of magazines for the Cromwell Publishing Company, and with the money we gave the seniors o 1952 the banquet they will always remember This year being our senior year is the most enjoyable Being 'dignified seniors we realize that this will be our last year together as a class We have enjoyed working to gather all these years We enjoyed working for our Spaghetti Supper to raise money for our king and queen, although, they were not crowned at the Halloween Carnival We elected class officers quite a while ago We have some new people in our senior class now who have come from other schools They are Joan Edmonds, Regina Kelly, and Mrs Bettye Jane Beck Our soonsors are Mrs Campbell, Miss Bowman, ard Mr Antle There are about 23 graduating seniors The date for our graduation has been set for April lO, 1953 We hope to go to iviti s throughout the rest of the school year This may be the last graduating class from Jamestown High S hool ff- Xa fa 'W-U X A 1+ . n If . Regina Bradshaw, wants her gab to go to Dale Dixon Ronald Butler, gives his tendency to make a little knowledge go a long way in the classroom to Billy Browning Sam Campbell, leaves to Phillip McClure, his knack to hunt Kducks,l on the school's time Barbara Carnes, wuls her ab1l1q'to keep a boy friend to Tootsie Dunbar Herlon Dixon, to our teachers, the hope that there will be a special heaven for them to reward them for the past four years Ralph Dunbar, wills his English book to Carl Carnes Odell Eastham, to the potential football team, the skill he might have had if we could have had a team Toan Edmonds, leaves her passion for dark haired boys to Azikh Gasaway Norma Flanagan, leaves to Phoebe Coffey, her ability to keep a man Terill Flanagan, leaves to anyone with a hide tough enough to take it his interest in uO1d Trusty' fMr Lacy's paddle! Kent Flatt, to some innocent freshman, his seat in study hall Mary Grant, gives her miniature size to Judy Dunbar Radine Grider, wants Joyce Holt to have her abundant gift of gab Gladwyn Hubbard, leaves her recipe to catch a man to Betty Richards Elizabeth Hudson, leaves her scientific mind to Agnes Knight Doris Loy, has nothing she wants to part with, therefore no bequest Bill Oldham, leaves to Guy Hadley, a little of his avoidupois lfatl Kate Reese, gives to Vontress Dunbar, her operator's license to take the Matrimonial Highway James Revis, to anybody who needs it, his bluff Apply early and avoid the rush Eldridge Richards, to Dhillip McClure's best friend, his general know dge and lore as well as his thesis on ducks Noel Rogers, his seat in class room to Richard Cheatham, may he fill it as promptly and faithfully Nadine Shearer, to Janice Cook, her sunny disposition, may the sun never set Rebecca Story, to Stella Sims, her abihtyto laugh when she should cry Orvis Ray Wheat, his dignity and executive ability to Gary Flatt Jimmy Wilson, to the Principal, his ability to take it on the cheek and turn the other Teddy York, to Alton Holt, the secret of his methods of playing ball..
