A 3. NHS' K ,,..aP- . z ruff? F 'Csflilzl' -SL riff? '7i5zlbi5? l' ' ' l-IGMECGMING For the twenty-Hrst year of homecoming tradition C. saw the biggest and best celebration ever. Lois Compton was our queen, By Baker was our whislcer champ, John Parker was our chairman, and the alumni were our guests. On the eighteenth of October the program opened with a Jazz Follies presented by members of the music and dramatics departments. The bonfire, 'snake-dance, midnight show, parade, football game, and banquet followed in rapid succession. Honors in the parade were swept away by the chorus with their fioat depicting the famous apple-shooting scene from William Tell. The sophs downed the freshmen in the tug-of-war. Downcast faces roamed the campus after the Jimmies suffered a stinging defeat at the hands of the Wahpeton Wildcats, but we all brightened up at the prospect of the formal dance held Saturday night in the gym. Attended by over 150 couples, the affair was a grand success, with the Valley City Campus Cadets giving out with some music that was new to our campus-but we quickly adapted ourselves and everyone enjoyed a marvelous evening. 6, f i 9-, .i

WASP-IINGTCDN DAY Under the chairmanship of Vernon Youngs, the traditional Washington Birthday festivities were cli- maxed this year with a formal dance in the gym, as the usual banquet had to be foregone due to the increased student body. The heated class contest in the chapel was enjoyed by everyone-except, maybe the faculty. An excellent lunch in the commons was followed by the dance. Appropriate decorations portrayed the Stars and Stripes draped with crepe paper from the ceiling, and the Campus Cadets created the proper atmosphere with some fine music.
