V Heidinger, L. Cunningham, B. Wheeler, L. Page, M. Hart. I Gevmg B. Shook, B. Dick. SIGMA TAU DELTA Here we have an exclusive organization-the college literati. It's so exclusive, in fact, that the members scarcely recognize each other. Getting together as seldom as they did each meeting became practically a reunion of lost brothers. One meeting was held at the home of the society's President, Hood Gardner, at which time the starving artist tradition was broken, another at the home of Dr. St. Clair, where the new members were initiated into the mysteries of the organization. There the writers read their masterpieces and then hid in the corner while Dr. St. Clair, as Advisor and Chief-Critic, led the way in the dissection of their productions, line by line and verse by verse. The well-understood difhculties of the office of Vice-President were handled flawlessly by Laurie Cunningham. Mary Hart struggled with the book-work and kept track of the bus tokens, while Imogene Geving, as Beagle, an office unique to this society, ferreted out: the bashful novices of belles-lettres and cajolecl their attendance with threats to their pocket- books.

FGREIXISICS After three or four years of inactivity, the Forensic Club blossomed out with new vigor this year, becoming one of the most active groups on the campus. This was partly due to Mr. Smith's capable advisorship, partly to more dollars in the treasury, and partly to the desire to be heard on the part of the members. During the first semester Vernon Pearson served as President, with Robert Salisbury as Vice-President, Taking over for the second semester were: John D. Miller, President, Robert Schmidt, Vice-President, Alice Kolberg, Secretary-Treasurer. During the year the debate teams made several trips, including Ellen- dale, Grand Forks, and Valley City, participated in two tournaments, one at Moorhead, which was for practice, and the St. Thomas tournament, at which Vernon Pearson, Harvey Bryan, John Miller, and Robert Salisbury defended their positions, pro or con. Returning to the campus, the Forensic Club sponsored an intra- mural debate tournament, awarding a trophy to the winning team. Composing the remainder of the debate teams were john Ericson, Vernon Baclces, Mary Jean Tarbell, Sylvia Radke, and Alice Kolberg. The other members of the club werenit interested in winning arguments, they just wanted to talk.
