BAND An important morale-booster in any college is the band-and especially in C. There is an average attendance of 25 at the rehearsals Monday and Wednesday afternoons. With Clement Bousquet conducting, the band has put in an appearance at all the football and basketball d ' ' games an pepped up both the team and the spectators with lively marches, in addition to playing the C. pep song and the Star Spangled Banner. Furthermore they helped the team alon to victor t V ll C , g y a a ey ity and at Ellendale, the two out-of-town basketball games which they attended. The band presented a concert in Chapel on February 21, and plans were being made to present a spring concert. A major project was the building of a large hardwood music cabinet, to be placed in the Varsity Room in Orlady Hall, where the band practices. Rollefson. s Cl-IDRUS The change from a ladies' chorus back to a mixed chorus resulted in the presentation of Handel's great oratorio, The Messiah, the week before the Christmas holidays began. With a present membership of 65, the chorus meets Tuesday and Thursday afternoons in the chapel with joseph Saylor Black conducting and Robert Lodine at the piano. Another project of the year was the presentation of Faure's '4Requiem,,' directed by Mrs. Phyllis Kooker Wallin. The spring tour this year included concerts at Bismarck, Devils Lake, and Fargo. A small group selected from the chorus presented musical numbers during Spiritual Emphasis Week, February 24 to 28. Ofhcers for 1946-47 are, Dick Pearson, President, Shirley Knoll, Secretary, Duane Hyde, Business Manager, Warren Flath, Chorus Representative, Corinne Hochhalter and Barbara Elner, Librarians.

GERMAN CLUB These are the der, die, das people. When they hold their monthly meeting weighty German syllables fly through the air like brickbats. But they're not restricted to talk. They have the German band to play for them, the quartet! to sing German songs, or they might arrange a skit, or simply open the windows and tell everyone to sing. The high point of their schedule was the Christmas party held at the home of Mrs. Schoenbohm, the organization's advisor. Mrs. Bell deserted her husband long enough to sing some German lullabys for them. Mrs. Schoenbohm's children stayed up to perform for them. They had a lot of German food, aber wie die Namen zu buchstabiren? For elected officials-Herbert Mutschler, President, Lois Compton, Vice-President, Richard Pearson, Secretary-Treasurer.
