Thomas. ooflfall Changes which made appreciable differences in the Jimmie football schedule were wrought by the war in the first war-time season of the JC grid-men. The-late opening date of college and a week vacation for the men to help with threshing intemittently handicapped the Jimmies and as a result they were not quite ready when the schedule got under way. The revamped schedule brought the Cassellmen in contact with Wahpeton in the Wildcat lair for their initial conference tilt. Although the Jimmies pushed the Science men around considerably the hosts managed to run up a final score of 19-0. In their first home game the Jimmies met the Mayville Comets and hung up their first seasonal win with a score of 2447. In the traditional Valley City game the Cassellmen travelled to Valley to play on an icy field the coldest day of the season, but they were successful in concluding the game 12-O. The unpredictable Ellenclale Dusties visited the orange and black lair for the Jamestown College Homecoming game, and although the 26-13 decision went the Jimmie way, the Jamestown eleven had more than enough trouble keeping on top. At Moorhead the Jimmies were forced to bow to a pile-driving MSTC team to the tune of 20-13. On Armistice Day Coach Cassell toolc his men to Aberdeen where they met the Aberdeen Wolves. In the hardest-fought, hardest-hitting, best ofiensively played game of the season the Jimmies concluded their season with a 0-0 deadlock. A Lettermen for the 1942 season included: Doherty, Kercher, Brandenburg, Gadbow, Stuckenbruclc, Krivobolc, Baker, Bryan, Edson, Herzog, Kotsalcos, Larson, Osmon, Ongstad, Ohnstad, Norgaard, Nicholson, Wangsness, Sagehorn, C. Pearson, and Earl.
