evwaaws' Never, we repeat, NEVAIR, has any organization been hurtled into such electrifying prominence in a brief moment of history as has the German Club, where yesterday they were a retreat for the scholarly pursuit of Goethe and Schiller, today they are besieged by telegrams and pleas from those who thirst for the knowledge of the teutonic customs, psychology, folkways and moresg they have sprung from being a quiet study group, to holding a vital spot in modern world thought. When Smilin' Jack stands up to the Hitlerats and gurrowls, So-SOO: denken Sie jetzt, dasz unsere Soldaten faul sind? , is it Le Cercle Fracais who understand what he's saying? Not on your life-it's the German Club! And when Skeesix briskly upbraids the desert Heinie, Ruh! Machen Sie your trap zu! , do the Latin students know what's going on? Don't make us laugh! Ha ha! It's the GERMAN kids who know what the score is! So, in their enviable position, they work like mad, with Keith McClelland making like president, Carol Condit looking like the vice-president that she is, and Lena Pantleon taking notes and dues. The only hard part about it all is tuming away the pathetic faces which gather around Watson Lounge every time the select group has one of their scrumptious and bountiful feeds. They say it's heartbreaking. Sheldon V. Brooks, V. Henna, P. Travis, A. Henne, J. Robertson, W. Haberstroh. McClelland C. Condit, Miss Lein, L. Pantleon, D. Hyde. 2 ' ., n 1 ' if ' 1.4:

R.'s referred to as being merely one of the quietest and most sincere organizations on the campus. It's downright frustrating to be compared with the quiet pool, when actually it ain't so. The Life Service Recruits are the only religious organization on the campus for both men and women, and they work with a will in their aim to further Christian teachings on the campus. Their meetings are inspiring and their chapel programs no less so. And churches, hospitals and Homes can rell you that the Recruits mean what they say about good will. This year they elected Lucille Flesjer president, Duane Hyde vice-president, Betty Hall A secretary, and Sam Graf treasurer.

C9ZVY4i5f'1' When the chorus of voices from the Pine Room breaks into the stirring strains of Ag Threads Among the Au , or By the H2O's of the Minnetonka , you can bet your bottom nylon that-yes-that the Chemistry Club is meeting tonight. And when you step closer and peek through the key-hole you ind that the percentage of femmes in this organization is amazingly low. In fact, the percentage of males is so high, that any girl would give her right leg to join-if only there weren't those darned requirements. But there are always a couple of lovelies who brave the rigors of chemistry and break test-tubes with the best of them. If you're still looking through that key-hole, I think by now we can call you an adamant eaves-dropper. But it's worth it to see what goes on at the meetings. A favorite game is one in which the president throws acid on the vice-president, and when the v.-p. rushes up to the lab to get some base to neutralize his face, he Finds that the president has filled the ammonia bottle with phosphorus. Then when he comes back to the meeting, the other members try to remember what he looked like before he went. Anyway, Helmsworth was president this year, Ed Doherty was vice-president, and Thelma Grande wrote up the meetings and collected the dues. It is rumored that Doctor Hart was a party to these goings-on.
