ADMINISTRATORS AND SCHOOL EXECUTIVES . MR. ROBERT E. AYLOR, the Superintendent of Frederick County Schools, is well-known among the teachers and students for the part he has played in the program of the county throughout the years. He visits our schools frequently to meet with the school administration, gives advice, and helps in any other way possible. To discuss classroom policies and ways for improvement, he meets with the members of the faculty. He is also in charge of transportation and maintenance. MR. MELTON WRIGHT, who is the Director of Instruction for Frederick County Schools, has his office in our school. By having his office at James Wtxmd it is convenient for him to study the school situation and make changes to improve it. He observes the teachers and students in their classrooms and offers help in their instruction. WM! The School Board offers guidance and direction to the administration and operation of schools through- out Frederick County. The Board Members discuss ways and means of operating schools and establishing school policies during their monthly meetings. 10 The employment of all school personnel and handling 5 -1. .ax of all business matters in connection with the functioning of our schools, is under the direction of the School Board Left to Right: Mr. Robert Muse, Mrs. Elizabeth Sheetz Mr Clyde Logan, Mr. Huyett Light, Mr. Fred Whitacre, and Mr Charles Bass.

PROVIDE LEADERSHIP FOR COUNTY SCHOOLS MR. MELVIN D. FAWCETT. the assistant principal, MR. JAMES C. GORDON'S personality needs no introduction to james Wfood students. The entire student body is greeted by his voice every morning as he makes the announcements over the public address system. He participates in many of our school activities such as co-sponsoring the BETA Club here at James Vfood. Mr. Gordon encourages school spirit when he cheers from the bleachers at our games. Our principal offers advice and extends a friendly, helping hand wherever it is needed. By being so interested in making our school the very best, he naturally creates the same enthusiasm among the members of the faculty and student body. is another well-known person frequently seen in our halls. As his title implies, he takes over the duties of our principal in his absence. Besides this, he issues absentee cards and teaches social studies. He also takes care of locker assignments of students enter- ing James Wood. It is Mr. Fawcett's responsibility to collect teachers' monthly reports. In spite of all these responsibilities, Mr. Fawcett is always willing to help in any way he can. MISS LUCY PAINTER, standing, is the school sec retary. Besides keeping all financial records for the school, she performs such secretarial duties as typ ing letters, using the adding machine, answering the telephone, operating the mimeograph machine and taking dictation. Through her co-operation and under standing, confusion and work is lessened in our school. MISS JEAN WINANS, seated, is the part-time sec retary employed in the school office. She has the typical responsibilities of a secretary. From this jean is gaining experience and preparing for her future career in business.
