Setting The Standards Many feelings that can be catego- rized as hopes and fears are shared at the first football game. The fans are eager to socialize with their old friends. Members of the band are nervous about performing for the stu- dent body. But more importantly are the feelings of the players. After all they are the ones that earned the 28- 20 victory that will be recorded as the 50th anniversary win against Washington. Many feel that this game sets the standards for the rest of the season. When asked if the game had any special meaning, Steve Cook 89 ' replied, I tried to forget that it was the anniversary game at stake and focused on play- ing to the best of my ability. A Royal Night The hope of being chosen and the fear of not seemed to turn into ex- citement only. For one the hope came true and for the remaining eleven, the fears dissolved. September 25 was a very special date for twelve senior girls. During the day, the Homecoming court en- joyed lunch with Mr. Oldham, and was presented to the student body at the pep assembly. Then that night, the court members and their escorts strolled onto the football field, each with a proud smile. After everyone had been introduced, Jennifer Juday sparkled as Penny Polsgrove, former Queen, placed the crown on her head. I was shocked to hear my name and I was really surprised, stated Jennifer. The members of the court were Kim Bailey, Sarah Black, Camille Coddens, Tara Harris, Sara Herczeg, Vianda Hill, Jennifer Juday, Jennifer Knight, Sheryl Lynch, Nicole Medich, Wendy Medich, and Nora Weldy. Each of them were honored to repre- sent the senior class and will cherish the memories for many years to come.
