September Sketch: The Return Well, here it is. This, you poor nervous scholar, is what you have been looking forward to all summer. After sufFerinq through those all-night parties at the lake, the long days at Tower Hill, (and those dates after the dance when you could drive through Azar ' s with the top down and then go for a long ride in the country). Summer can sure be dull, you tell your- self as you pack your swim suit and noseplugs away for the winter. You have nothing to do but sleep till twelve, then spend the afternoon at the pool or mooch a ride to the lake. Your biggest problems are the decisions you have to make. Should I get up at noon or one o ' clock? Whose car are we taking today? Whom should I ask to the dance next week? Do we go to Waldo ' s party or Smiley ' s place? Well, that ' s all over now. You can settle down to the peace and tranquility of school life. As you step in the front door, Mr. C. grinds your cigarette out under his heel, and our new leader begins his reign. You rise at six to be at your early morning class. At noon the smiling cafeteria workers speed you on your way with a pat on the wallet and the start of a peptic ulcer. At 3:15 you are hustled out of the old Alma Mater and sent home with more books than the Li- brary of Congress ever dreamed of. You give up trying to figure out why Macbeth bumped off Banquo and not Fleance, and you hit the sack wondering if maybe the boredom of summer was such a bad deal after all.
