'sl f F -- , , Y 5 S 1X 88 GULF Golf may not be as glamorous a sport football, baseball or basketball, nevert less, it has attracked a considera amount of attention this season. With return of veteran players Daren Bovi Jeff Liederman and Jim Elder, along w Peter Janis and Jim Kingman up from l year's Jayvees, an excellent team was pected. We have a good chance of placing y or 2nd, commented coach Verjean Ow Out toughest competition is Universit Both Jayvee and Varsity teams got to a great start. After moving up a no' from last year's 2A to the 3A division, ' competition was expected to be tough Surprisingly enough, according to Ow it didn't have an effect on their perf mance this year. 'Slt seems our streng was about the same as last year, but c opponent's were weaker. Moriarity 90 SPORTS Tennis is the type of sport which reli on individual strengths, but most impc tant is having a powerful team that wor well together. According to coach K McKenna, 'SAS a group we were stror We had a lot of depth and that is impc tant. Leading the teams and in top positic were returning seniors Dave Stibor, D Moriarity, and newcomer Scott Reddie Competition was tough in the Mid-V1 ley 4A League this seasong not tougl than expected though. We were fighti for 3rd with Kennedy and Granada. mingham, we assumed, would take the tle as they have the last l5 out of years, stated McKenna. Tremendous assets to the team were v erans Jai K. Kim, Erik Holmes, Gary Hendro and John Lehr. Also success was sophomore Greg Offers. The season was a challanging one, ax its' turn-out was to no ones dissapoii ment.
