It is often difficult to find a sport where an thlete can combine personal excellence into a eam effortg but many have found that track just , ay be that sport. Basically, skills of running, lumping and strength together cover about 37 track and field events. This year's team, because of the few returning athletes was not expected to do as well as last ear's stronger team. Track coach Dean Balzer- tt felt they did well but attributes their difficul- ies to being a young and relatively inexperi- nced team. This year's team was led by Sr.s Frank Eber- hard in the mile and Eric Grisby in the hurdles, junior James Henry, an excellent sprinter, and junior Brian Rush in the two-mile race. Other standouts included junior Paul Kim, who excells in the shotput event, Sr. Jeff Cohen, in the high iump and triple jump, along with Sr. John Benus ho competes in the long, high and triple jump vents. Balzerett added that the team was developing nd improving throughout the season, striving to o well in the meets with Monroe's toughest ompetitors, Kennedy and San Fernando.
