Dedication Just as we realize that the jinished production of a play is not the result of merely the talent and labor of its players, out also of all the back-of-the-scenes people: the designers, the sound effects men, the directors, who sewed or modu- lated or shaped the show into maturation, so must we not forget that our journey through lllonroe has been provided all the time with strength and assistance, a force to alleviate minor and major dijiculties, by a silently working, unseen hand-that of our parents. Literally, they pushed us on l5 fslugj v.wsns ,XxMx'M::J0., . . L V 095 xr'P, 33 0'09 Xl' 'pgs-ix! 1 Qfobsuv ,-- fv-3 Ip' W SQ 1 la plc: lp: 'flppl1 pl 'lvlr

our way every day: they gave us a cheery, meaningful Good morning, it's 7:00 A..M. to contest the unhappy groans of an amorphous mass under a white sheet, they urged an egg into our mouths for breakfast- It's good for you! , they said,' they gave us a daily check-up- Tissues? Pen? Comb? Lunch? While traveling for three years, we always felt the spirit of our parents with us, consoling us for our 65's and encouraging us on to 9O's, commending us for our 9O's, but warning us against their swelling effect. Our parents helped us to march on! Under the leadership of Mrs. Mary Wisotsky, the Parents Association, too, marched on-to Albany-and came back with the promise of a remodeled athletic field for lllonroe. With Beatrice Thompson, President, they came back from a Board of Estimate meeting enthusiastic about a new curtain for the school auditorium, funds for the expansion and rehabil- itation of our Music Department, remodeled machines for our machine shops. Whether we see the presentation of a P.T.A. scholarship, read a P.T.A. bulletin, a memorial to the efforts of the late lllrs. Esther Hecht, or attend a bargain book fair directed by lllr. Irving Waissar, we are observing the products of our parents' inexhaustible generosity and vitality, mani- fested in activities such as these in which parents such as Mrs. Lena Reich have been so instrumental. Although we sometimes may have taken our three years' journey for granted, we should remember that to our parents it is the culmination of living through periods of their chil- dren's crises, of coaxing, of waiting for the cloud of a heavy heart to pass away, it is a manifestation of our joy and achieve- ment in which they can share. To show our humble appreciation for them, whose policy has always been March on! , whose deep concern has always b67'L6fl6d our cause, it is our hope that in perusing these pages they will be gratified to see their worries dissolved, their hopes confirmed, and their labors fulfilled. To our parents we dedicate this book.
