All of us. no doubT. remember The smarT-aIeck upperclassmen, who Told us ThaT The locker- room was on The Top Tloor and ThaT The Iunchroom was in The basemenT. We did noT soon TorgeT The bullying seniors who oTTered To sell us eIevaTor passes and gym spoTs. because we have iusT pulled The same sTunTs ourselves. BuT, now The Tour years are over: all The good Times and Tun we had, are behind us: now iT is Time To look To The TuTure. In The pasT, Monroe sTudenTs have enTered many and varied fields of endeavor. Some of Them have become docTors, lawyers and engineers, and oThers may have become salesmen, mechanics, or businessmen: buT. no maTTer whaT occupaTion They chose, They have always given a good accounT oT Themselves. Ours is a Time of greaT naTionaI emergency. This counTry needs aIerT, inTelligenT, young leaders. We. The graduaTes of Monroe, are To furnish These leaders. IT is up To us and The gradu- aTes of all The oTher schools in The counTry To lead This counTry To VicTory. There is a greaT responsibiliTy being placed upon us, buT I know ThaT we will do noThing To show ThaT This TrusT has been misplaced. IT we can show The same deTerminaTion and will To succeed as our predecessors, VicTory musT surely be ours. The Time has now come Tor us To leave. We have had loTs oT Tun and many pleasanT experiences in Monroe. The crowded baskeTbaII and TooTbaII games, The commando Training in P.T., The various clubs and The assemblies, cannoT soon be Tor- goTTen by us: buT, now iT is Time Tor us To pack up all our memories oT The Tour years and say goodbye.
